Abstract: In one embodiment of the present disclosure, a housing for an antenna system having a plurality of antenna elements defining an antenna aperture includes a chassis portion, and a radome portion configured for coupling to the chassis portion to define an inner chassis chamber, the radome portion having a planar top surface, wherein the radome portion is configured to have equal spacing between the planar top surface and a top surface of each of the plurality of antenna elements defining the antenna aperture.

Abstract: In one embodiment of the present disclosure, an antenna apparatus includes a housing assembly including a radome portion and a lower enclosure portion, wherein the radome portion and lower enclosure portion are couplable to form an inner compartment for housing antenna components of the antenna assembly, an antenna stack assembly disposed within the inner compartment, wherein the antenna stack assembly generates heat when in operation, and a heat transfer system within the inner compartment configured to facilitate the flow of heat toward the radome portion.

Abstract: Systems and techniques for beam-to-beam (B2B) coupling cancellation are disclosed. In one example, a process includes obtaining, at a first FE of a serially fed FE network, a first RF signal and a second RF signal; outputting, from the first FE, a first through path RF signal based on the first RF signal and a second through path RF signal based on the second RF signal; obtaining, at a second FE of the serially fed FE network, the first through path RF signal and the second through path RF signal; and applying one or more phase shifts to the first RF signal, the second RF signal, the first through path RF signal, or the second through path RF signal to at least partially cancel the coupling component associated with the cross-coupling between the first signal path of the first FE and the second signal path of the first FE.

Abstract: A modem is configurable on a satellite, user terminal or gateway generates a radio frequency (RF) signal using an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) protocol including a radio frame including one or more bursts. A burst of the one or more bursts includes a first portion including burst detection data, a second portion including channel characteristic estimation data, a third portion including payload data, and fourth and fifth portions including pilot data. The first portion in a time domain is included in the burst prior to the second, third, fourth, and fifth portions. The first portion can include a pseudo-random noise sequence inserted in the time domain. The same physical modem can be configured to transmit signals on an uplink or downlink between a user terminal and a satellite or on the uplink or downlink between the satellite and the gateway.

Abstract: A phased array antenna system includes a carrier, a first antenna element and a second antenna element coupled to a first side of the carrier, the second antenna element spaced apart from the first antenna element by a space; and a signal conditioning module including a support structure having a first side and a second side opposite the first side, one or more signal conditioning elements coupled to the first side of the support structure, and a plurality of coupling elements coupled to the second side of the support structure. The signal conditioning module is coupled to the first side of the carrier and disposed in the space on the first side of the carrier between the first antenna element and the second antenna element. At least one coupling element is electrically coupled to the carrier. The signal conditioning module is electrically coupled to the first antenna element.

The search of the sky includes sequentially changing a beam pointing direction of the antenna assembly. The satellite is assigned to downlink to a geographic cell associated with the user terminal. The user terminal includes a media access control (MAC) layer component configured to generate an uplink radio frame including a random access channel (RACH) request associated with the initial network entry request at a particular portion of the uplink radio frame for the satellite.

Abstract: In an embodiment, an apparatus includes an integrated circuit (IC) chip configured to receive a timing signal and a first reference clock signal and generate a first reference time signal based on the timing signal and the first reference clock signal.
