Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a communication scheme and a system for combining an IoT technology with a 5G communication system for supporting a higher data transfer rate than a 4G system. The method of the terminal comprises the steps of: obtaining information on at least one reference signal for beam failure detection; identifying whether a beam failure is detected for each of a first reference signal set and a second reference signal set included in the at least one reference signal; and if a beam failure is detected for at least one of the first reference signal set and the second reference signal set, performing a beam failure recovery procedure for the reference signal set in which the beam failure is detected, wherein the first reference signal set is related to a first control resource set (CORESET) pool, and the second reference signal set is related to a second CORESET pool.
