    Abstract: A linear displacement control valve comprising a valve body having a valve bonnet cooperatively engage thereto. The body and the bonnet collectively accommodate a valve trim which comprises a flow control element and a complementary spindle. The spindle is preferably attached to a reciprocally movable valve stem of the control valve via a stem adaptor. The stem adaptor is adapted to allow for some measure of “float” between the spindle and the flow control element as may be needed to accommodate any misalignment therebetween. The spindle is uniquely configured such that when used in conjunction with the flow control element, the trim is capable of providing low end flow control at a higher level of accuracy and/or wider rangeability.

    Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a steam desuperheater which is integrated into a steam line. The steam desuperheater comprises a segment of steam pipe having one or more spring loaded spray nozzles attached thereto. Installed within the interior of the steam pipe of the desuperheater is a liner. The desuperheater is also provided with a steam flow measurement sub-assembly comprising a differential pressure transmitter including a pair of pressure gauges which are operatively connected to respective ones of a first pressure tapping which is formed in the steam pipe before the liner, and a second pressure tapping which is formed in the liner. The measurement of the differential pressure allows for a determination of steam flow through the desuperheater. In addition to the differential pressure transmitter outfitted onto the steam pipe, the steam flow measurement sub-assembly further preferably comprises pressure and temperature transmitters which are installed in the steam line upstream of the desuperheater for providing a density determination that is also required for the steam flow determination.

    Abstract: A method of modifying a printer cartridge is disclosed. The modifications increase the versatility of an existing cartridge by enabling the cartridge to be transformed into a universal cartridge. The OEM print cartridges are restricted to use in a few or only one type of printer due to specialized gear side end plates and contact side end plates. End plates contain features or portions, such as bosses, which restrict the number of models of printer that a cartridge may be fit into. The features or portions may be removed by any combination of cutting, modifying, or replacing the gear side end or the contact side end plates. Removing the portions, removes the restrictions imposed by the end plates and allows the print cartridge to been fit into a greater number of printers. The universal cartridge may be used in the printer for which it is originally designed as well as another printer or printer family, thus increasing the versatility of the cartridge.
