摘要： Methods are described for use in a mobile device such that when the mobile device is connected to a generic access network (GAN) cell, the mobile device receives information including characteristics pertaining to one or more neighbor cells in a network that are not GAN cells. The mobile device can then determine at least a list of candidate neighbor cells for handover from the GAN cell to a cell that is not a GAN cell as a function of the information. In some embodiments of the invention the network that is not a GAN is a UTRAN network and a candidate list of 3G cells are generated.

摘要： In accordance with the teachings described herein, systems and methods are provided for configuring signaling radio bearer information in a user equipment protocol stack. A wireless network may be used that includes a radio access network for transmitting information between a user equipment device and a core network. An instruction may be received to generate a signaling radio bearer configuration information element (IE) that includes configuration information for a pre-selected number of signaling radio bearers. The signaling radio bearer configuration IE may then be generated, while ensuring that the signaling radio bearer configuration IE includes configuration information for a required minimum number of signaling radio bearers. The signaling radio bearer configuration information element may be transmitted from the radio access network to the user equipment device for use in configuring the signaling radio bearers in the user equipment device.

The protocol stack includes an upper logical layer, a lower logical layer, and a mid stack layer. A determiner determines the configuration of the radio bearer by which the data is to be communicated. If a determination is made that the radio bearer is configured such that it does not require its application to the mid stack layers, a data bypasser causes the data to bypass the mid stack layer. If, conversely, the data is to be applied to the mid stack layer, the data is caused to be routed therethrough.
