Abstract:
Process for the manufacture of surfactants from alkoxylated alcohols and vinyl ethers, the alkoxylated alcohols used being those containing oxyethyl and oxypropyl groups, the ratio of oxypropyl to oxyethyl being at least 1:1.
Abstract:
A herbicide comprising a mixture of a substituted triazine derivative with a benzo-2-thia-1,3-diazinone-(4)-2,2-dioxide derivative, and a process for controlling the growth of unwanted plants with these mixtures.
Abstract:
Desublimer for the recovery of sublimed products from reaction gases, consisting of a closed housing for the passage of the reaction gas and a plurality of horizontally mounted rows of finned tubes for the passage of the heating or cooling medium, in which a perforated slider is mounted on each finned tube to allow adjacent finned tubes to bear loosely against each other, the stack of superposed sliders associated with each finned tube being loosely supported on a girder securely attached to the housing.
Abstract:
Film having improved transparency prepared from a mixture of an ethylene polymer and from 0.05 to 1.0 percent by weight (based on the mixture) of a copolymer of styrene, a graft copolymer of styrene, a homopolymer of propylene or a copolymer of propylene and ethylene; the film may be used as packaging material.
Abstract:
Production of organometallic compounds of sodium and potassium with alkylaromatic hydrocarbons (X) by reaction of the metal with a monochloride of a hydrocarbon (Y) and reaction of the organometallic compound formed with the alkylaromatic hydrocarbon (X). A fine dispersion of the metal in the alkylaromatic hydrocarbon (X) is first prepared by stirring a mixture of molten metal and hydrocarbon (X) in the presence of a dispersing agent; then the monochloride of the hydrocarbon (Y) is slowly added. The sodium or potassium compounds may be used for organometallic reactions or as monofunctional polymerization catalysts.
Abstract:
Production of 3-sulfopropionic anhydride by reaction of propionic acid with chlorine and sulfur dioxide in specific proportions with irradiation. The 3-sulfopropionic anhydride prepared by the process of the invention is a valuable starting material for the production of dyes, pesticides and fibers.
Abstract:
WHERE X denotes halogen, methoxy or amino and n denotes one of the integers 1, 2, 3 and 4, it being possible for methoxy and halogen or amino and halogen or methoxy, amino and halogen to be present simultaneously. Herbicide compositions of mixtures in the weight ratio of 5:1 to 1:5 of (a) 3-lower alkyl-2,1,3-benzothiadiazinone-(4)-2,2-dioxide and (b) a compound of the formula
