    Abstract: A magnetic latch for a display of a laptop computer is disclosed. The latch uses magnetic attraction to maintain the display closed and uses magnetic repelling forces to pop-up the display when opened. The latch includes one or more magnetic elements in the body of the laptop and at least one magnetic element in the display. When the display is closed, the magnet element in the display is positioned adjacent the magnet element in the body having an opposite polarity so that the magnet elements are attracted to one another. To pop-up the display, the user moves the magnetic element in the display so that it meets the magnetic pole in the body having the same polarity. When these meet, the repelling force between them causes the display to open slightly so that a user can then readily open the display.

    Abstract: An integrated connector in accordance with the present invention is disclosed which can be connected to two separate data and power plugs or to one integrated data and power plug. Although the connector visually appears to the end user as two distinct ports (data and DC power), it is a single, unified connector from the system's perspective. This design facilitates precise mechanical alignment when a single integrated plug, with both data and DC power, is interfaced with the connector. However, since the single integrated connector presents two ports to the user, it also allows the individual interfaces to be utilized with their own respective plug.

    Abstract: A disk drive media access system opens a media access door to the interior of a disk drive sufficiently for ejection of disk media from the disk drive but insufficiently for manually engaging and removing disk media that is operationally positioned within the disk drive. One connector receptacle may include a housing having one or more horizontal slots corresponding to one or more tongues of a connector insert. The connector receptacle may include a number of vertical slots, each having a contact to form an electrical connection with a contact on the one or more tongues. These contacts may emerge from the top of the housing to connect to a flexible conductor. A stiffening layer may be placed over the top of the flexible conductor. The housing may also include vertical bridging pieces that may be located between a top portion and a bottom portion of the connector receptacle. Shielding may be included above, in front of, or below the housing, or any combination thereof.
