Abstract:
Example systems and methods for managing resources in broadband networks are disclosed. An example method for configuring a port of a digital subscriber line access multiplexor (DSLAM), the method including obtaining from a pre-defined configuration for the port a parameter indicating that a customer line termination port card is to be installed in the port, querying the DSLAM to determine a configuration state of the port, configuring the DSLAM with the parameter for the port when the port has not been configured, and reconfiguring the DSLAM with the parameter for the port when the port is incorrectly configured for a network line termination port card.
Abstract:
Improvements to existing trap-generated message memory purge procedures and processes are shown and described. The improvements may be implemented in a telecommunications system having a plurality of managed elements, each of the managed elements potentially generating traps which are communicated to one or more fault servers.

Abstract:
A system for automatically monitoring provisioning in a DSL network is disclosed. The system is operable to query network elements in the DSL network for information related to the provisioning of DSL services. Thereafter, the system analyzes the information to identify points of delay and/or failure in the provisioning process. If a delay exceeds a threshold value, an administrator is notified.
Abstract:
Improvements to existing statistical record memory purge procedures and processes are shown and described. Certain procedures ensure that there is adequate temporary memory for storing new statistical records before purging older statistical records from permanent memory. Certain of the procedures wait a predetermined amount of time before reevaluating whether there is adequate temporary memory for storing new statistical records. After older statistical records have been purged, certain of the procedures update any indices or pointers utilized by permanent memory. The improvements may be implemented in a telecommunications system having a plurality of managed elements, each of the managed elements potentially generating statistical data that is communicated to one or more statistics servers.
Abstract:
A system for automatically planning firmware card ports on multiplexors in a DSL network is disclosed. The system is operable to query element management systems (EMS's) in a DSL network to identify the multiplexor devices that each of the EMS's is dedicated to managing. Thereafter, the system queries the multiplexor devices identified as being managed by a particular EMS for the planning status of the multiplexor's ports. Upon identifying unplanned ports, and those that are inconsistent with the prescribed plan, the system plans the ports consistent with a prescribed planning arrangement.
Abstract:
A connecting mechanism for selectively connecting transmission components has a gear with teeth and a clutch collar mechanism. The clutch collar mechanism has a clutch collar, pins, springs used to bias the pins, and spring plates. To connect the clutch collar to the gear, the clutch collar is sliden along its shaft until its pins contact the teeth of the gear. The pins are then pushed back against the springs located within the clutch collar. The clutch collar is then rotated until the pins line up with gaps between the teeth of the gear. The pins are then automatically inserted into the gaps by the springs.
