摘要: A method for managing information signal distribution in a communication system (100) includes transmitting a signal containing information configured according to a first media format from a first communication device (104) to a second communication device (110). At least one of the two devices (104, 110) monitors at least one operating characteristic of a depletable power supply (318) sourcing electrical energy for the second device (110). When a level of the monitored operating characteristic falls below a predetermined threshold, the first communication device (104) outputs the information to the second communication device (110) according to a second media format that requires less power consumption to process than does the first media format. Alternatively, under such circumstances, the first communication device (104) may output the information to a media output device other than the second communication device (110).

摘要: A solution for automatically activating different audio transducers of a mobile communication device based upon an orientation of the device. In the solution, a series of speaker/microphone assemblies can be positioned on the device, such as positioned near an earpiece and positioned near a mouthpiece. Different speaker/microphone assemblies can also be positioned on the front of the device and on the back of the device. The solution can automatically determine an orientation for the device, based upon a detected direction of a speech emitting source and/or based upon one or more sensors, such as a tilt sensor and an accelerometer. For example, when a device is in an upside down orientation, an earpiece microphone and a mouthpiece speaker can be activated. In another example, an otherwise deactivated rear facing speaker can be activated when the device is oriented in a rear facing orientation.

摘要: The present invention discloses a solution that automatically informs a speaker to decrease his or her speaking rate, when that rate likely exceeds a rate that a listener can understand. This can be accomplished by determining a speaking rate for the speaker, which is compared against a speaking rate threshold. The speaking rate threshold can be based upon a listening rate, estimated or known, of the listener. The listening rate can be a variable value based in part upon a proficiency that the listener has with a language being spoken. The speaker can be informed to slow down by an activation of a sensory mechanism of a wearable computing device designed to vibrate, beep, blink, speak a message, display a message, and the like, whenever a speaking rate of the speaker exceeds the speaking rate threshold.

摘要: A mobile communication device (100) contains a local wireless controller (114) for operating with a remote audio processor (124). The remote audio processor is used for listening to and speaking with remote parties via the mobile communication device, and operates in a mode having a relatively long latency in communicating with the mobile communication device. Upon receiving a dispatch call (306), a baseband processor (108) of the mobile communication device notifies an application processor (110) with a high priority dispatch notification (122). The high priority dispatch notification causes an active link to be established between the mobile communication device and remote audio processor sooner than if were to occur with ordinary call processing.

摘要: A communication device (100, 200) capable of transmitting information provides the means for regulating the temperature (116) of one or more heat-sensitive modules or components (160) of the communication device through the adaptive and dynamic control of the flow of transmissions by the communication device, thereby eliminating the need for stored thermal profiles of heat-sensitive modules of the communication device. In addition to the heat-sensitive module(s), the communication device has a multi-logic controller block (110) and a transmission flow control block (140). The multi-logic controller block (110) receives the temperature of the heat-sensitive module (116) and a first control clock (112) and utilizes multi-value logic to generate a flow control signal having hysteresis (126). The flow control block (140) is coupled to the multi-logic controller block (110) and the heat-sensitive module(s) (160) and operates to generate a transmission control signal adapted to control transmission of information by the communication device in accordance with the flow control signal (126) and a second control clock (142) provided to the flow control block (140).
