Abstract:
A fryer for deep frying a turkey has an outer cooking pot for containing hot oil. A splatter sleeve is telescopically slidable into the pot, the sleeve having a surrounding side wall, an open top surrounded by a top sleeve rim and an open bottom surrounded by a bottom sleeve rim. A lid is sealingly seatable upon the top sleeve rim and has a lid hole. A lid latch latches the lid to the top sleeve rim. A turkey support has a turkey support base, extends upwardly from the base to a handle top end and is insertable through the hole in the lid. When these components and a turkey are assembled, suspended from the handle and lowered into hot cooking oil, the sleeve is sufficiently long that it enters the oil before the turkey thereby assuring a complete splatter barrier.
Abstract:
A turbine rotor with a rotor disc, a plurality of slots arranged on the rotor disc, a plurality of blades having blade roots and arranged in the slots, and a plurality of locking plates fitted in a position between the rotor disc and the blades are provided. The first gaps on radially outside edges and second gaps on radially inside edges, relative to an axis of rotation of the rotor disc, are formed between neighboring locking plates. At least one of the first gaps is smaller than the corresponding second gap, wherein at least one first gap and corresponding second gaps are intentionally introduced.
Abstract:
A reduced weight enhanced strength jewelry piece. In the preferred embodiment, the piece is comprised of a left section and a right section, each preferably containing a substantially hollow channel. A central section is also provided. All three sections are preferably formed of the same precious metal, though different metals could be used if contrast is desired in the finished piece. In the preferred embodiment, the central section is a substantially solid piece fitted to match both the left section and the right section. The three sections are joined together to form a jewelry piece. The resultant jewelry piece will have two substantially hollow chambers transected by a substantially solid piece. The substantially solid piece will serve as a brace to the hollow chambers, such that if a force were applied to the jewelry piece transverse to the hollow chambers of the piece, the central section would resist deformation.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods are provided for analyzing an episode stored by an implantable medical device (IMD) using prior probability and conditional probability information to determine the likelihood of a particular diagnosis for a given stored episode. Certain embodiments include retrieving information about a stored episode from an IMD, including an episode metric, and retrieving domain expert information about potential diagnoses and episode metrics to determine the likelihood that the stored episode was due to a particular potential diagnosis. Certain embodiments also include retrieving patient information including a patient metric, such as patient demographics, or patient history. Certain embodiments of the invention include the ability to automatically or manually update or change the domain expert information.
Abstract:
A circuit and method are provided for performing built-in test of output signal magnitudes of integrated differential signal generator circuitry. In accordance with one embodiment, first upper and lower reference voltages and second upper and lower reference voltages are received via a plurality of reference electrodes, wherein: a difference between the first and upper and lower reference voltages comprises a first difference magnitude; a difference between the second upper and lower reference voltages comprises a second difference magnitude; and the first difference magnitude is greater than the second difference magnitude. Test signal generator circuitry provides a plurality of binary signals with respective successions of opposing signal states. Differential signal generator circuitry, coupled to the test signal generator circuitry and responsive to the plurality of binary signals, provides a plurality of differential signals having respective magnitudes related to the respective successions of opposing binary signal states. Signal comparison circuitry, coupled to the plurality of reference electrodes and the differential signal generator circuitry, and responsive to the first and second upper and lower reference signals and the plurality of differential signals, provides a plurality of test signals with respective test signal states indicative of whether respective ones of the differential signal magnitudes are within a range defined as being less than the first difference magnitude and greater than the second difference magnitude.
Abstract:
A water treatment system for treating coal-bed-methane (CBM) water. The CBM water treatment system includes a pump system for pumping CBM water from one or many CBM wells into a common reservoir and a solid-based sulfurous generator that produces aqueous sulfurous acid to treat the CBM water and an injection system that increases the amount of calcium contained in CBM water. In one embodiment, the injection system is a gypsum injector that injects soluble gypsum into the CBM water. Moreover, in one embodiment, the solid-based sulfurous generator includes a hydraulic air inlet shut off valve safety system for automatically reducing the combustion air to the sulfurous generator when water is not delivered to the solid-based sulfurous generator. Also, in one embodiment, the water treatment system includes a control system that monitors the pH of the treated water to control the water flow rate through the solid-based sulfurous generator to achieve the desired concentration of sulfurous acid in the CBM water being treated.
Abstract:
A remote monitoring medical device system includes a medical device system which may further include an implantable medical device and/or an external medical device having a communication connection and one or more remote data handling systems having compatible communication connections such as a centralized database located on a host server or a remote third party or clinical data handling system. Web services may be installed and run on an implantable or external medical device or a data handling system and may be invoked locally by applications running on the system component or invoked remotely by another system component. Web services provide translation, analysis and/or storage and retrieval of data used by the remote monitoring medical device system.
Abstract:
A catadioptric imaging system for micro-lithographic projection features a high numerical aperture objective where most of the focusing power is produced by reflection and refraction angles are limited to avoid additional aberration. A field correcting optic is appended to a Mangin mirror in an immersive configuration for raising the numerical aperture. The optical connection between the Mangin mirror and the field correcting optic is arranged to control refraction angles by limiting angles of incidence or refractive index differences. A radially symmetric polarizing effect is achieved in a pupil to improve image contrast.
