A first radio module provides a first wireless communications service and communicates with a first communications device in compliance with a first protocol. A second radio module provides a second wireless communications service and communicates with a second communications device in compliance with a second protocol. A Co-Located Coexistence radio manager detects activities of the first radio modules, obtains a first traffic pattern describing downlink and/or uplink traffic allocations of the first radio module from the first radio module, and generates a second traffic pattern of the second radio module according to the first traffic pattern to coordinate operations of the first and second radio modules. The second traffic pattern describes recommended downlink and/or uplink traffic allocations to a plurality of sub-frames for the second radio module, and each sub-frame defined by the second protocol includes Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing symbols.

In the system, a first module operating in a first protocol and a second module operating in a second protocol share one communication channel. An arbitration circuit schedules medium accesses thereof, in which a quota table maintains a utilization value updated in accordance with the amount of time slots consumed by a particular traffic type, and a time counter periodically resets the utilization value to a default value. When the arbitration circuit receives a request for medium access of the particular traffic type, the arbitration circuit grants the request according to the utilization value, such that the first module or the second module are not activated at the same time.

The apparatus includes a packet traffic arbitration (PTA) module coupled between a first wireless communication module and a second wireless communication module, granting the first request requesting for a first wireless communication operation with a first priority in a first time period from the first wireless communication module, receiving a second request requesting for a second wireless communication operation with a second priority from the second wireless communication module when the granted first wireless communication operation is not finished. In operation, the first wireless communication operation interferes with the second wireless communication operation, the PTA module granting the second request and informing the first wireless communication module to take back the granted first request when the second priority is higher than the first priority.
