    Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image forming portion, a toner storage container, an odor generator, an odor sensor, and a control portion. The image forming portion includes an image carrying member and a development device that develops an electrostatic latent image formed on the image carrying member into a toner image. The toner storage container is rotatable, stores toner for forming the toner image, and is removably mountable in the image forming apparatus. The odor generator is provided at a position where it is rotatable together with the toner storage container, and carries an odor substance. The odor sensor senses the odor substance diffusing from the odor generator. The control portion rotates the toner storage container after its mounting in the image forming apparatus before toner supplying operation, and senses the odor substance at a sensing position where the odor generator is closest to the odor sensor.

    Abstract: A development device includes a development container, a stirring conveyance member, a developer carrier, a vent hole, a filter, and a developer leakage prevention sheet. The stirring conveyance member conveys, while stirring, the developer containing toner inside the development container. The developer carrier carries on its outer circumferential surface the developer to feed the toner to an image carrier on which an electrostatic latent image is formed. The vent hole is formed in the development container to allow the inside and outside of the development container to communicate with each other. The filter is arranged to cover the vent hole from outside the development container. The developer leakage prevention sheet is flexible and is arranged inside the development container, opposite the vent hole so as to overlap the entire vent hole. A gap is formed between the developer leakage prevention sheet and the opening edge of the vent hole.

    Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image carrying member, a charging device, an exposure device, a development device, a development voltage power supply, a humidity detection device and a controller. The exposure device exposes the surface of the image carrying member charged by the charging device to form an electrostatic latent image. The development device includes a development container which stores a developer including a toner and a developer carrying member which supplies, to the image carrying member, the toner in the developer, and develops the electrostatic latent image into a toner image. The development voltage power supply applies, to the developer carrying member, a development voltage with an alternating voltage superimposed on a direct voltage. The humidity detection device detects an absolute humidity around the development device. The controller stepwise increases the frequency of the alternating voltage as the absolute humidity detected by the humidity detection device is increased.

    Abstract: An inkjet recording apparatus includes a blade, a protruding member, a holder, a first biasing member, a supply member, and a second biasing member. The protruding member is provided integrally with the blade, and protrudes toward an inkjet head. The holder supports the protruding member and the blade. The first biasing member biases the protruding member and the blade toward the inkjet head around the shaft portion. The supply member is provided on a rear side of the nozzle surface in the moving direction, and is in contact with a tip end portion of the blade so that a cleaning liquid is supplied to the blade. The second biasing member biases the supply member toward the inkjet head. The blade is not in contact with the supply member when the protruding member and the supply member are not pushed from a side of the inkjet head.

    Abstract: An inkjet includes a head unit, a blade, and a cleaning liquid supply member. The head unit is provided with a nozzle surface, and supported to be lifted and lowered. The blade is in contact with the nozzle surface and moves in a predetermined moving direction to wipe off the nozzle surface. The cleaning liquid supply member stores a cleaning liquid, and supplies the cleaning liquid between a moving start position of the blade and the nozzle surface. The cleaning liquid supply member has a plurality of supply ports provided between the moving start position of the blade and the nozzle surface. When a direction crossing to the moving direction is defined as a width direction, a width of the blade is set to “a”, and a width of a region where the supply ports are formed is set to “b”, then the next formula is established, a≤b.

    Abstract: A front end of a raster image processing (RIP) system decides a starting storage location and a storage hierarchy. The hierarchy dictates where the rendered pages of a job will be stored. At least one page of a first set of pages of a job are stored at a memory for the RIP system. At least one page of a second set of pages of the job are stored in a storage drive when the memory is not available. The type of job also dictates that the rendered pages of the job are stored in the storage drive. Complex pages also are stored in the storage drive while simple pages are discarded. The processing operations are managed so that the print engine is running efficiently.
