摘要: There are provided a mercury-free metal halide lamp which is improved in light flux rising immediately after starting, more practical and suitable for a headlight, and a metal halide lamp lighting device and a headlight using this. The metal halide lamp according to the present invention comprises: a translucent air-tight container having an inner volume which is not grater than 0.1 cc, including an enclosure portion forming an inner space having a flat surface on a bottom surface, and having a ratio D/L satisfying the following expression: 0.25 ≦ D/L ≦ 0.43 where D is a distance between the bottom surface and a top surface of the inner space at a central portion in a tube-axis direction, and L is a length of the enclosure portion; a pair of electrodes sealed facing each other with an inter-electrode distance which is not greater than 5 mm; and a discharging medium containing a plurality of metal halogen compounds selected from a group of Sc, Na, In, Zn and a rare-earth metal and a rare gas but intrinsically not containing mercury (Hg), wherein a lamp power per unit inner surface area of the air-tight container is not smaller than 60 (W/cm2).

摘要: A storage system having a primary storage apparatus for storing data from a host computer in a primary logical volume, and a secondary storage apparatus connected to the primary storage apparatus, for providing a secondary logical volume for storing a copy of the data, the storage system comprising: a search unit for checking whether or not data exists in each primary slot area formed by partitioning a storage area in the primary logical volume into predetermined storage areas; a transmission unit for sending, if no data is held in the primary slot area, a notice indicating no data stored to the secondary storage apparatus; and a data write unit for writing, when the notice is received from the primary storage apparatus, zero data in the secondary slot area.

摘要: A metal halide lamp is comprised of an airtight tube having a discharge section in which a discharge space is formed; a discharge medium which is enclosed in the discharge space, contains metal halide exhibiting a molar ratio of sodium halide to scandium halide of 1.5 or below and 8 atm or higher of xenon but does not substantially contain mercury; and a pair of electrodes with their tip ends arranged to oppose to each other in the discharge space, wherein halogen atoms bonded to metal in the metal halide mostly consist of iodine and bromine atoms, and a ratio of the bromine atoms is in a range of 10 to 50% and the total amount of the metal halide enclosed is 0.02 mg/μl or less.

摘要: A metal halide lamp includes a translucent air tight vessel having a light emitting tube portion with an internal discharge space, and sealing portions formed on both sides. A discharge medium in the discharge space contains at least metal halide and rare gas. A pair of electrodes, one ends of which are sealed at sealing portion and the other end of which are arranged in the discharge space facing each other. The discharge space has a nearly circular shape in a cross section perpendicular to the tube axis and has a structure in which the discharge medium is accumulated between the electrodes. The light emitting tube portion has a wall thickness of a lower portion thinner than that of an upper portion. The metal halide lamp has a high luminous efficiency, a quick rise of light flux and an easy manufacturing ability.

摘要: A storage apparatus capable of achieving both an improvement in efficiency of data transfer processing and an improvement in availability and a method of controlling the storage apparatus are provided. A storage apparatus which includes a storage medium for providing an external apparatus with a data storage area includes: a processing unit including multiple processors which execute synchronous processing and asynchronous processing other than the synchronous processing, the synchronous processing being processing to be executed immediately in response to data I/O requests from the external apparatus, the asynchronous processing being processing to be executed as needed in response to a processing request generated in the storage apparatus; a temporary storage unit which provides a storage area where any of the processors temporarily stores write target data in accordance with a data write request among the data I/O requests; and a processor operating rate management part which manages a time schedule for each of the multiple processors to execute the synchronous processing or the asynchronous processing. In the storage apparatus, the processor operating rate management part acquires execution proportions of the synchronous processing and the asynchronous processing executed by each of the multiple processors in a past predetermined time period and an usage state of the temporary storage unit used by the multiple processors, compares the acquired execution proportions and the usage state with execution proportions of the synchronous processing, the asynchronous processing, and intensive writing processing set in advance for each of the processors, the intensive writing processing being processing of writing from the temporary storage unit to the storage medium, the execution proportion of the intensive writing processing defined corresponding to the usage state of the temporary storage unit, and sets an operation schedule of the multiple processors in such a way that at least one of the processors executes the synchronous processing at any point in a predetermined execution proportion management unit time.
