Abstract: Aspects of the disclosed apparatuses, methods and systems provide a wearable, augmented or virtual reality display system including two or more sets of backlight illumination arrangements. Each different set of backlight illumination is directed to a corresponding optical imaging system. The corresponding optical imaging system is designed to focus each set of illumination at a different distance. The selection of a particular optical focal distance is controlled by selecting the set of backlight illumination corresponding to the imaging system to provide the desired focal distance. As a result, selection of the backlight illumination determines at which distance an image is perceived by a user. When multiple backlight illumination sets are multiplexed with 2-D images, a single, 3-D image is perceived by the wearer of the display system.

Abstract: Systems and methods to provide an interactive environment over an expanded field-of-view are presented herein. The system may include one or more of a headset, a first image forming component held by the headset, a second image forming component held by the headset, one or more physical processors, and/or other components. The first image forming component may be configured to generate light rays to form a first set of images of virtual content at a first resolution. The first set of images of virtual content may be presented to the user over a first angular portion of the user's field-of-view. The second image forming component may be configured to generate light rays to form a second set of images of virtual content at a second resolution. The second set of images of virtual content may be presented to the user over a second angular portion of the user's field-of-view.

Abstract: A system configured to present virtual content in an interactive space may comprise one or more of a light source, an optical element, one or more physical processors, non-transitory electronic storage, and/or other components. The light source may be configured to emit light. The optical element being configured to provide the light emitted from the light source to an eye of the user. The non-transitory electronic storage may be configured to store virtual content information defining virtual content. The virtual content may include one or more of a virtual presentation area, one or more virtual tools, one or more virtual object, and/or other virtual content. The virtual presentation area may be provided for generating and/or displaying presentations of virtual content. The presentation may include a set of scenes. An individual scene may include one or more virtual objects posed on the virtual presentation area.

Abstract: Systems and methods to generate an environmental record for an interactive space are presented herein. An environmental record may represent a set of local environments and may define archival location compositions for the local environments. An archival location composition for a local environment may define aspects of the local environment associated with one or more objects and/or surfaces previously determined to be present in the local environment. A headset worn by a user in the local environment may generate a current location composition based on output signals from sensors included in the headset. The archival and current location compositions may be compared to determine updates for the environmental record.

Abstract: A system configured for providing views of virtual content in an augmented reality environment may comprise one or more of a light source, an optical element, one or more physical processor, non-transitory electronic storage, and/or other components. The light source may be configured to emit light. The optical element being configured to reflect light emitted from the light source into one or more eyes of a user. The non-transitory electronic storage may be configured to store virtual content information defining virtual content. The virtual content may include one or more of an annular dock, one or more virtual objects, and/or other virtual content. The annular dock may comprise a set of sockets. The annular dock may be configured to simulate removable engagement of individual virtual objects to individual sockets. The light source may be controlled to generate views of the annular dock to be perceived as surrounding the user.

Abstract: Various implementations provide for a three-dimensional trackpad in which sensors and a three-dimensional physical region may be used to interact with a three-dimensional virtual environment. The methods, systems, techniques, and components described herein may facilitate interactions with virtual objects in a three-dimensional virtual environment in response to sensor input into a control device having one or more sensors implemented thereon. The control device may be coupled to a display that may be configured to display the three-dimensional virtual environment. In various implementations, the sensor(s) capture physical movement of a user interaction element (a hand, a stylus, a physical object, etc.) within a specified three-dimensional physical region. The physical movement may be translated into a virtual interaction with the three-dimensional virtual environment. A virtual action in the three-dimensional virtual environment may be identified and displayed.
