Abstract:
A toner composition for fixing onto a receiver in conjunction with non-contact fuser capable of fusing one or more layers of toner on the receiver such that one or more toner layers reach a fusing temperature above a glass transition temperature. One or more cooling finish rollers are located downstream from the non-contact fuser to lower the toner temperature.
Abstract:
The present invention is an apparatus for refurbishing a fusing member. The apparatus includes a fusing member that contacts the toner image on a receiver medium and fuses the toner image to the receiver medium. The fusing member has an outer contact surface of a fluorothermoplastic resin The apparatus includes a tooling member positionable adjacent to the outer contact surface of the fusing member such that a pressure nip is formed between the outer contact surface of the fusing member and the tooling member. A heat source is provided for transferring heat to the fusing member and the tooling member, wherein the surface of the fuser member is engagable with the tooling member to rotate at a speed of at least 1 rpm at a pressure of at least 5 psi and at a temperature of at least 10° C. below the thermoplastic melting temperature of the outer contact surface for a time sufficient to resurface of the outer surface of the fuser member.

Abstract:
A method of making a fuser roller comprising: providing a fuser roller an outer layer comprising a fluorothermoplastic polymer; and annealing the outer surface of the outer layer through contact the outer layer by means of heat and pressure.
Abstract:
A toner fuser member contains a substrate on which is disposed a toner release surface layer formed from a composition that includes a silsesquioxane and a curable epoxy resin. On curing, the composition forms an interpenetrating polymer network of the silsesquioxane and cured epoxy resin.
Abstract:
Reducing variation in the surface temperature of an externally-heated fusing roller in an electrophotographic machine, the variation typically occurring during the beginning of a fusing run, by detecting the beginning of a fusing run and applying a modified fusing temperature set-point characteristic to the fusing roller. The mode of the electrophotographic machine is monitored to determine whether the machine has changed operating modes, and the application of the modified fusing temperature set-point characteristic to the fusing roller is ceased when the electrophotographic machine changes modes. The force with which the heating rollers engage the fusing roller is controlled within desired operating limits.
Abstract:
Producing an enhanced gloss electrophotographic toner image on a substrate by coating colored fusible toner particles supported on a substrate with a layer of clear toner containing an offset preventing wax, transporting the substrate bearing clear toner coated colored fusible toner particles through a fuser zone to fuse the fusible toner particles and produce a substrate bearing a fused clear coated toner image, and transporting the substrate bearing the clear coated fused toner image through downstream glossing device to re-fuse the fused toner image to increase the gloss of the previously fused toner image.

A high heat transfer efficiency fusing roller includes an annular elastomeric base cushion layer around a rigid cylindrical core member, with a high thermal conductivity layer around the base cushion layer, and a thin flexible release layer around the high thermal conductivity layer. The base cushion layer is less thermally conductive than the high thermal conductivity layer, which high thermal conductivity layer has a thermal conductivity equal to or greater than 1 Btu/hr/ft/F.

Abstract:
A fuser assembly for an electrostatographic reproduction apparatus including a fuser member and a pressure member, a release oil oiler system for the fuser assembly, and a cleaner for cleaning the pressure member. The pressure member cleaner has a cleaning member including a fabric material. A drive mechanism is associated with the cleaning member for moving the cleaning member relative to the pressure member such that the cleaning member is located in operative association with the pressure member, or the cleaning member is located in spaced relation remote from the pressure member. A logic and control unit selectively activates the drive mechanism to move the cleaning member to the operative association location or the remote location.
