In controlling the air-fuel ratio in an air-fuel mixture in an internal combustion engine, a pulse duty signal Tp corresponding to the basic fuel injection quantity is operated at least from the intake air flow quantity Q and the rotation speed N of the engine, a signal of a fuel injection quantity Ti corrected by adding an appropriate correction value to said Tp is applied to a pulse-controlled fuel injection apparatus. Feedback control is carried out so that the actually detected air-fuel ratio is made to follow the aimed air-fuel ratio, and the learning correction coefficient .alpha.o is operated by learning so that the correction coefficient for this feedback control is as small as possible and the operated value is given as a correction value to Tp.
