摘要： A method and apparatus for restraining pipe against both internal and external forces at a pipe or fitting connection and to join and seal at least two pipes to form a pipeline is shown featuring an improved restraining and sealing mechanism. The restraining and sealing mechanism includes a circumferential housing and a companion sealing ring which are received within a mating groove provided in the belled end of a female pipe. The circumferential housing has an interior region which contains a gripping ring insert. The sealing ring and housing are integrally located within a belled pipe end during belling operations.

The gasket has a bulbous region which is bisected by a planar region which forms a pair of oppositely extending wing-like flaps. These features of the gasket allow it to be more reliably seated on the working mandrel used to bell a female, thermoplastic pipe end. The wing-like flap portions of the gasket form wiper surfaces for a subsequently installed male, spigot pipe end as the joint is formed.

摘要： A sealing gasket and pipe coupling system for corrugated pipe where a male pipe end of a male section of corrugated pipe has an axially extending bore defined by a smooth inner wall fused to a corrugated outer wall having axially adjacent, annular, outwardly-extending corrugation ribs separated by corrugation valleys, each corrugation rib having a circumference. The sealing gasket has an annular gasket body with an inner circumferential region which defines a base for the gasket and an outer sealing region, the inner circumferential region of the gasket is received within a selected corrugation valley of the male pipe end. The base of the gasket body includes a pair of laterally extending lips which, when viewed in cross section, extend outwardly across the selected corrugation valley to fit larger valleys and which bend inwardly to fit narrower valleys. The base of the gasket body extends radially outward to form a main body region, the main body region having a pair of oppositely arranged wing portions which are separated from the laterally extending lips by void regions which accommodate inward bending of the lateral lips in narrower valleys.

摘要： A sealing gasket is shown for use in a ductile iron piping system to form a sealed joint between mating male and female pipe ends. A sealing gasket body is provided with a series of retainer inserts which extend outwardly from a leading nose region of the elastomeric gasket body. The mating male pipe end contacts the retainer inserts prior to contacting the remainder of the gasket body during the make up of the pipe joint. The inserts help to retain the gasket within its associated groove during high pressure field conditions. The inserts are spaced circumferentially about the gasket nose region, allowing the gasket the necessary flexibility to allow insertion within the groove provided in the female, belled pipe end.
