    摘要: An automatic recirculation airflow damper for use in electronic enclosures utilizing multiple air moving devices to cool electronic components within the enclosure. When an air moving device is removed, the damper automatically closes an orifice associated with the absent air moving device, thus preventing the loss of cooling air from the vacated orifice and the subsequent reduction in cooling capacity. In some embodiments, the damper is attached to the enclosure with hinges. In certain embodiments, the damper is configured with elastomeric material such that the interface between the orifice and the damper offers high impedance to airflow while the damper is in a closed position. The automatic recirculation airflow damper reduces electronic thermal failures and therefore increases the reliability of a system equipped with the device.

    摘要: An improved carrier comprises a tray, an EMC component, and a bezel. The EMC component comprises a top spring set and a bottom spring set. Each spring set comprises a plurality of spring biased contacts connected by a plate and a bar so that each spring set moves in unison when depressed or released. Each tray has a first flange and a second flange and each of the flanges has a cut out portion. When an improved carrier is moved out of an array enclosure, the flanges depress the top spring of the EMC component of the carrier below. When the improved carrier is moved into the array enclosure, the flanges depress the top spring set of the carrier below until the top spring set of the carrier below is released by the cut-out portions of the flanges. When released, the top spring set of the carrier below contacts the bottom spring set of the carrier above to form a continuous EMC shield.

    摘要: A computer has at least one adapter card slot for receiving an optional adapter card. A cover plate is rotatable hinged and has open and closed positions. In the closed position, the cover plate covers the adapter card slot and inhibits the insertion or removal of an adapter card. When the cover plate is raised into the open position, a tab on the back of the cover plate is rotated out of the slot of an optical switch, and the optical switch then signals circuitry to remove power and bus signals from the adapter card slot; thereby permitting the adapter card to be removed from or inserted into the slot without removing power to the entire computer. When the cover plate is returned to the closed position, the tab is reinserted into the slot of the optical switch, which in turn signals the circuitry to return power and bus signals to the adapter card slot. A locking tab firmly clamps the adapter card bracket to the housing bracket; thereby providing a good ground connection from the adapter card to the computer housing.

    摘要: An electrical equipment rack includes an electrical equipment unit that slides in and out of the rack on two drawer slides. A hinge attaches a first cable management arm to the rack or to a first drawer slide, which is attached to the rack. Another hinge attaches a second cable management arm to the equipment unit or to a second drawer slide, which is attached to the equipment unit. A flexible linkage is connected between and joins each of the free ends of the two cable management arms. Cables for interconnecting two or more equipment units are attached to the cable management arms and flexible linkage. The equipment unit can be extended out the front or back of the rack for servicing, and each of the cable management arms can be rotated away from the equipment unit to permit easy access to the unit. The flexible linkage limits the bend radii of the cables without regard to the position of the cable management arms or the position of the equipment unit relative to the rack. In another embodiment, a single flexible cable management arm is used instead of the two cable management arms and flexible linkage.

    摘要: A disk drive enclosure houses a mix of “slim” and “half high” disk drive sizes in almost any order. The preferred enclosure includes at least thirteen equi-spaced pairs of guide rails, wherein each pair of rails includes one rail on one side panel of the enclosure, and the other rail of the other side panel of the enclosure. Each pair of guide rails defines a boundary of a “slot”, such that twelve slots are defined between thirteen pairs of guide rails. Groups of slots are defined, wherein each group includes six contiguous slots. For each group of six slots, four connectors are included on a back panel of the enclosure. Within each group of six slots, the four connectors are positioned within the first, third, fourth and fifth slots, and no connectors are positioned in the second and sixth slots. A “no go” tab is also placed, adjacent the leading edge of one of the side panels of the enclosure, in the second and sixth slots to prevent the insertion of the rails of a disk drive in these slots. A removable back panel “shuttle” is included, which can be replaced with a different shuttle to easily and inexpensively convert the enclosure to receive a different type of disk drive.

    摘要: An integrated cooling and retention bracket is detachably coupled to a computer processor cartridge having a heatsink mounted thereto. The bracket is U-shaped with a cross-bar and a short, perpendicular arm on each end of the cross-bar. The lower end of each arm acts as a hinge for an upward-turned extension on the outer side of each arm. Each extension has a rounded knob at its tip and an outward protruding tooth therebelow. An integrally formed, cooling fan mounting structure is located on top of the cross-bar. The mounting structure has two side panels with a central opening therebetween for holding a conventional cooling fan, which is snap mounted inside the central opening. The cartridge and bracket assembly is installed in a retention mechanism on a printed circuit board. The teeth on the bracket snap into holes in the posts in the retention mechanism to electrically interconnect the processor cartridge to the circuit board. With the assembly installed in the retention mechanism, the fan is located directly adjacent to the cartridge for cooling the processor. The concave surfaces of the end wall and the baffle direct airflow from the fan along the entire width heatsink to maximize the cooling capability of the fan.

The first clamp member defines a first clamp surface and the second clamp member defines a second clamp surface facing the first clamp surface. An elastic material is secured to a surface of one or both of the first and second clamp surfaces. The second clamp member is movable away from the first clamp member for receiving the one or more electronic cables between the first and second clamp surfaces. A biasing member biases the second clamp member toward the first clamp member sufficient to compress and frictionally engage the elastic material with the one or more electronic cables.
