    Abstract: A compressor (20) comprises: a housing assembly (22) having a plurality of ports including a suction port (24) and a discharge port (26); a male rotor (30) mounted for rotation about an axis (500); a female rotor (32) enmeshed with the male rotor and mounted in the housing for rotation about an axis (502) for drawing a flow from the suction port, compressing the flow, and discharging the compressed flow through the discharge port. The housing assembly comprises: a motor case (54); and a cover (60) bearing the suction port. The cover comprises a unitary piece forming: a mounting portion (63) mounted to an adjacent end (55) of the motor case, said adjacent end being large enough to pass the motor; and a fitting portion (62) extending to a rim (66) at the suction port and bearing an external groove (200).

    Abstract: A refrigerant system includes a compressor having a flow of compressor lubricant therein, the compressor compressing a flow of vapor refrigerant therethrough. An evaporator is operably connected to the compressor and includes an environment to be cooled via a thermal energy exchange with a liquid refrigerant in the evaporator. A vaporizer is receptive of a first flow of compressor lubricant and refrigerant mixture from the evaporator having a first concentration of lubricant. The vaporizer uses a flow of compressed refrigerant to separate refrigerant from the first flow. A lubricant sump is receptive of a second flow of compressor lubricant and refrigerant mixture from the vaporizer having a second concentration of lubricant greater than the first concentration. A heat exchanger is receptive of a third flow from the sump and uses evaporator suction gas to cool the third flow, thereby increasing its viscosity before urging the third flow to the compressor.

    Abstract: A refrigerant system includes a compressor having a flow of compressor lubricant therein, the compressor compressing a flow of vapor refrigerant therethrough. An evaporator is operably connected to the compressor and includes an environment to be cooled via a thermal energy exchange with a liquid refrigerant in the evaporator. A vaporizer is receptive of a first flow of compressor lubricant and refrigerant mixture from the evaporator having a first concentration of lubricant. The vaporizer uses a flow of compressed refrigerant to separate refrigerant from the first flow. A lubricant sump is receptive of a second flow of compressor lubricant and refrigerant mixture from the vaporizer having a second concentration of lubricant greater than the first concentration. A heat exchanger is receptive of a third flow from the sump and uses evaporator suction gas to cool the third flow, thereby increasing its viscosity before urging the third flow to the compressor.

    Abstract: A compressor has an inlet port and a discharge port. The discharge port communicates into a resonator chamber. The resonator chamber includes a first stage resonator array and a second stage resonator array downstream of the first stage resonator array with a connecting passage intermediate the first and second resonator array. Each of the resonator arrays includes a pair of spaced resonator arrays sub-portions, with each of the sub-portions including a plurality of cells extending into a housing member, and have a bottom wall and an open outer wall communicating with the flow passage, with a plurality of orifices extending into each of the cells. The orifices have a smaller diameter than a hydraulic diameter of the cells.
