    Abstract: A projector includes alight source unit including a light source, a luminescent wheel having light source segments receiving light from the light source to emit different wavelength ranges of light, a color wheel separate from the luminescent wheel that has a first transmission area transmitting light, in visible light, existing in a certain range of wavelengths and a second transmission area transmitting light existing in a range of wavelengths broader than that of the light transmitted through the first transmission area and on to which the different wavelength ranges of light from the luminescent wheel are shone, and a control module controlling not only the luminescent wheel and the color wheel so that they are synchronized with each other but also the light source so that the light emitted from the light source is sequentially shone on to the light source segments.

    Abstract: A small light source unit is provided which emits lights of the primary colors which are highly bright and which have a high color reproducibility and excitation light, and the light source unit includes a light source module and a light source control module and the light source module has a first light source which emits light having a first wavelength which is used as excitation light which excites a luminescent material, and a second light source which emits light having a second wavelength which is different from the first wavelength but which falls within a range of wavelengths of light of a similar color to that of the light of the first light source, and the light source control module controls individually the illumination of the first light source and the second light source.

    Abstract: A light source device includes a light emitting element emitting light of a first wavelength band, a fluorescent wheel, a dichroic mirror, a reflection member and a polarization conversion element. The fluorescent wheel includes a fluorescent area converting the light of the first wavelength band into fluorescent light and a transmission area transmitting the light of the first wavelength band. The dichroic mirror reflects the light of the first wavelength band a first polarization direction, transmits the light in a second polarization direction, and transmits or reflects the fluorescent light. The reflection member reflects the light transmitted through the transmission area toward the transmission area. The polarization conversion element is disposed between the fluorescent wheel and the reflection member, transmits the lights transmitted through the transmission area and reflected by the reflection member, and converts the light in the first polarization direction into the second polarization direction.
