Abstract: Aspects and techniques of the present disclosure relate to a cleaning substrate with liquid-filled microcapsules embedded therein. The cleaning substrate may include cleaning swabs, tapes, or textiles that can be used to provide enhanced cleaning of optical fiber end faces. Cleaning is achieved by bringing the liquid-filled microcapsules into contact with a surface of application, such as an end face of an optical fiber connector. When the cleaning substrate is rubbed in contact with the surface of application, liquid burst from the liquid-filled microcapsules of the cleaning substrate to remove foreign matter or contamination, such as oil and dust, from the surface of application.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are various cable gel seal arrangements and thermoplastic gels useful therein. The thermoplastic gels are prepared from a composition including a styrene triblock copolymer, a styrene diblock copolymer, an oil extender, and an additive selected from poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide), a C9 resin, poly(alpha-methylstyrene), a coumarone-indene resin, and combinations thereof, wherein the additive has a Tg from about 95° C. to about 200° C. The thermoplastic gels advantageously exhibit low compression set.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates generally to a positioning arrangement for positioning optical fibers. The positioning arrangement can include a positioning substrate with a plurality of fiber receiving locations arranged in a row. Each of the fiber receiving locations can be configured to receive one of the optical fibers. Each of the fiber receiving locations can include a first fiber contact surface and a second fiber contact surface that are each adapted to contact a corresponding one of the optical fibers when the optical fiber is received in the fiber receiving location. The first and second fiber contact surfaces of each of the fiber receiving locations can be relatively oriented to define a fiber receiving angle that is greater than 90 degrees. The positioning arrangement can also include a pressing structure with pressing surfaces for opposing the row of fiber receiving locations to press the optical fibers within the fiber receiving locations.

Abstract: Aspects and techniques of the present disclosure relate to a cable sealing structure comprising a cable sealing body including a gel and methods of making anisotropic behavior in cable sealing structures made with a dry silicone gel. In one aspect, various three-dimensional printing techniques are used to make a cable sealing structure that includes a gel. The cable sealing body has a construction that elastically deforms to apply an elastic spring load to the gel. The cable sealing body has a construction with anisotropic deformation characteristics that allows the cable sealing body to be less deformable in one direction than in others. The cable sealing structure can be utilized to seal fiber optic cables more uniformly while limiting the potential of leakage.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a fiber optic adapter having a footprint/form factor compatible with an SC adapter mounting structure or an LC adapter mounting structure or both the SC and LC adapter mounting structures. The adapter body may include first and second co-axially aligned connector ports for respectively receiving first and second fiber optic connectors. The fiber optic adapter may also include a fiber alignment structure configured to accommodate at least 12 optical fibers (e.g., 12 non-ferrulized optical fibers) for each of the first and second connector ports. Another aspect of the present disclosure relates to a fiber optic adapter with linearly moveable, spring biased shutters. Abstract: A fiber optic adapter includes an adapter body defining a port leading to an alignment structure. The optical adapter also defines a platform disposed at the first port. The platform is recessed inwardly from an outer periphery of the adapter body. The platform includes latching members having catch surfaces. A fiber optic connector includes a connector plug body holding an optical fiber. The connector also includes a latching arm having a latching end that defines two rearwardly facing catch surfaces separated by a central webbing, which extends along a length of the latching arm. The rearwardly facing catch surfaces align with the catch surfaces of the latching members when the fiber optic connector is received at the fiber optic adapter.
