Abstract: A fiber optic cassette includes a body defining a front and an opposite rear. A cable entry location is defined on the body for a cable to enter the cassette, wherein a plurality of optical fibers from the cable extend into the cassette and form terminations at non-conventional connectors adjacent the front of the body. A flexible substrate is positioned between the cable entry location and the non-conventional connectors adjacent the front of the body, the flexible substrate rigidly supporting the plurality of optical fibers. Each of the non-conventional connectors adjacent the front of the body includes a ferrule, a ferrule hub supporting the ferrule, and a split sleeve surrounding the ferrule.

Abstract: The system determines whether an orientation of a ferrule was changed between measurements made to the end face geometry of the ferrule. Accordingly, the systems allows confirmation that a ferrule was re-oriented between measurements before calculating any deviations in the measurement tool and applying corrective algorithms. An indication (e.g., alarm, error message, etc.) may be conveyed to the user to properly re-orient the ferrule.

Abstract: Aspects and techniques of the present disclosure relate to a fiber optic connector assembly including a fiber optic connector with a front end and a back end. A ferrule positioned at the front end. The ferrule has a distal end face with a central region and recessed regions on opposite sides of the central region. The assembly includes a dust cap mounted on the ferrule. The dust cap has an open end and an opposite closed end. The fiber optic connector assembly also includes a tape member that covers the central region of the ferrule. The tape member can be secured to the dust cap such that when the dust cap is removed, the tape member simultaneously comes off with the dust cap.

Abstract: A double flexible optical circuit includes: a flexible substrate supporting a plurality of optical fibers; a first connector terminating the optical fibers at a first end of the double flexible optical circuit; and a second connector terminating the optical fibers at a second end of the double flexible optical circuit. Each of the optical fibers is positioned in one of a plurality of separate extensions formed by the flexible substrate as the optical fibers extend from the first connector to the second connector. The first and second connectors are configured to be tested when the first and second connectors are connected through the double flexible optical circuit. The double flexible optical circuit is configured to be divided in half once the testing is complete to form two separate flexible optical circuits.

Abstract: A fiber optic ferrule inspection tool (100) inspects and cleans a fiber optic ferrule (900). The tool includes a mounting arrangement (216), a camera (500), a grazing light assembly (800), an axial light (512), and a nozzle (320, 320′). The mounting arrangement (216) is adapted to releasably mount the fiber optic ferrule. The camera (500) is mounted to the mounting arrangement and captures at least one image (920, 922) of the fiber optic ferrule. The grazing light assembly (800) is mounted to the mounting arrangement and is adapted to emit grazing light and thereby illuminate an end (902) of the fiber optic ferrule. Rays (rg) of the grazing light are oriented to the end of the fiber optic ferrule within an angular range of 0 to 30 degrees. Rays (ra) of the axial light (512) are oriented to the end of the fiber optic ferrule about an angular range within 30 to 90 degrees. The nozzle (320, 320′) is positioned by the mounting arrangement and is adapted to supply ionized air (352) and thereby clean and electrostatically neutralize the fiber optic ferrule.
