Abstract: The invention relates to a connector (1) for data connections, in particular of the RJ type, with a latch element (6) for securing a connection to a counter-connector. In order to simplify a disconnection of the connector (1) and the counter-connector, even when the connection is secured by the latch connection, the invention provides that the connector (1) is provided with a gripping end (5, 5′) that is adapted to transfer the latch element (6) from its latch position (L) and to disconnect the connector (1) from the counter-connector by a single movement.

Abstract: A connector assembly has a connector part and a cable manager part. The cable manager part can be provided with a separable lacing fixture that functions to retain the severed portions of the wires that result from the termination process, rather than allowing the severed wire portions to fall to the floor in an uncollected state. In one aspect, the cable manager part has a main body to which the separable lacing fixture is attached via a plurality of breakaway portions.

Abstract: A connector assembly (10) is disclosed in which a main body (12) and a latch member (30) are provided. In one aspect, the latch member (30) is formed as a spring and has a first portion (32) with a locking rib structure (38) that can be depressed towards the main body (12) to allow the connector assembly (10) to be inserted through a front side (102a) or a back side (102b) of an opening (102) in a panel (100). After insertion, the first portion (32) can then be released such that a retention structure (18) of the main body (12) and the locking rib structure (38) engage opposite ends of an opening (102) to secure the connector assembly (10) within the opening (102). The same connector (10) assembly (10) can be used with openings (102, 202, 302) of different sizes without modification.

Abstract: A double flexible optical circuit includes: a flexible substrate supporting a plurality of optical fibers; a first connector terminating the optical fibers at a first end of the double flexible optical circuit; and a second connector terminating the optical fibers at a second end of the double flexible optical circuit. Each of the optical fibers is positioned in one of a plurality of separate extensions formed by the flexible substrate as the optical fibers extend from the first connector to the second connector. The first and second connectors are configured to be tested when the first and second connectors are connected through the double flexible optical circuit. The double flexible optical circuit is configured to be divided in half once the testing is complete to form two separate flexible optical circuits.

Abstract: A cover assembly (100) is disclosed that can be installed onto and removed from a telecommunications connector (200) without requiring the connector (200) from being removed from its mounted position and without requiring an associated cover plate (120) from being removed from its mounted position. The cover assembly (100) can include a base portion (150) that defines an opening that entirely surrounds a cover portion (110). In one example, the cover portion (110) is attached to the base portion (150) via a living hinge (118). In one aspect, the base portion (150) acts as a color cap while the cover portion (110) acts as a dust cover. In one example, the base portion (150) is provided without a cover portion (110) such that the cover assembly (100) simply acts as a color cap.

Abstract: Telecommunications jacks and methods of their use and construction are described. One telecommunications jack is adapted to receive a plug, and includes a housing defining a port for receiving the plug, as well as consecutively arranged contact springs adapted to make electrical contact with the plug when the plug is inserted into the port of the housing along a first axis. The jack includes wire termination contacts for terminating wires to the jack, and a circuit board arrangement including first and second circuits, the circuit board arrangement including a circuit board moveable in a direction non-parallel with the first axis between first and second positions. In the first position the circuit board electrically connects contact springs to wire termination contacts in a first configuration, and in the second position the circuit board connects contact springs to wire termination contacts in a second configuration.

Abstract: A connector assembly (10) is disclosed in which a connector part (12) and a cable manager part (20) are provided. The cable manager part (20) can be provided with a separable lacing fixture (24) that functions to retain the severed portions (6a) of the wires (6) that result from the termination process, rather than allowing the severed wire portions (6a) to fall to the floor in an uncollected state. In one aspect, the cable manager part (20) has a main body (22) to which the separable lacing fixture (24) is attached via a plurality of breakaway portions (34). During installation, the connector part (12) is inserted onto the cable manager part (20) and is placed in a wire termination tool (7) which fully inserts the connector part (12) onto the cable manager part (20). This action causes the connector part (12) to cut the wires (6) and to sever or break the breakaway portions (34) such that the separable lacing fixture (24) is separated from the fully formed connector (10).

Abstract: A fiber optic cassette includes a body defining a front and an opposite rear. A cable entry location is defined on the body for a cable to enter the cassette, wherein a plurality of optical fibers from the cable extend into the cassette and form terminations at non-conventional connectors adjacent the front of the body. A flexible substrate is positioned between the cable entry location and the non-conventional connectors adjacent the front of the body, the flexible substrate rigidly supporting the plurality of optical fibers. Each of the non-conventional connectors adjacent the front of the body includes a ferrule, a ferrule hub supporting the ferrule, and a split sleeve surrounding the ferrule.

Abstract: A metallic contact for insertion into a modular telecommunications plug includes a generally planar body defining a top end, a bottom end, a front end, a rear end, and a length extending from the front end to the rear end. The bottom end is at least partially defined by a blade for piercing an insulation of a wire positioned within the plug. At least a portion of the top end is configured to electrically contact a conductor of a jack that receives the plug. The top end is defined at least in part by a first engagement surface that is separated from a second engagement surface by a notch. An uppermost portion of the first engagement surface defines a first push surface that is generally at the same height as a second push surface defined by an uppermost portion of the second engagement surface. The notch is defined by a front vertical wall spaced from a rear vertical wall, wherein the front vertical wall is positioned at a distance of at least half the length of the contact from the front end of the contact.
