摘要: A printhead includes a printhead module and frame, and an alignment assembly including a base plate, locator plate, first set of locating elements, and coupling member. The locator plate, including through holes, is affixed with the base plate such that pockets are formed having a wall corresponding to a wall of one of the through holes and a base corresponding to a surface of the base plate. The first set of locating elements is positioned with an interference fit in one of the pockets. The walls of the pockets define positions of the first set of locating elements in a plane of the locator plate surface. The bases of the pockets define positions of the first set of locating elements in a direction normal to the base plate surface. The coupling member includes a second set of locating elements that contact the first set of locating elements.

摘要: An alignment component includes a first member, a second member, and a plurality of locating elements. The first member includes at least one surface. The second member includes a plurality of through holes that include a first through hole and a second through hole positioned relative to each other. The second member is affixed with the first member such that a first pocket and a second pocket are formed, each of the first pocket and the second pocket having a wall corresponding to a wall of one of the first through hole and the second through hole. Each of the first pocket and the second pocket have a base corresponding to a surface of the one or more surfaces of the first member. The plurality of locating elements include a first locating element positioned with an interference fit in the first pocket and a second locating element positioned with an interference fit in the second pocket. The wall of the first pocket and the wall of the second pocket define a first component of position of the first locating element relative to the second locating element. The base of the first pocket and the base of the second pocket define a second component of position of the first locating element relative to the second locating element.

摘要: A printhead includes a jetting module, a catcher, a drop deflection mechanism, and a capping mechanism. The jetting module includes an array of nozzles and is operable to form liquid drops from liquid emitted through the nozzles of the nozzle array. The catcher collects some of the liquid drops. The drop deflection mechanism deflects the liquid drops such that some of the liquid drops contact the catcher while other liquid drops are allowed to contact a print media. The capping mechanism includes a capping member located between the nozzle array of the jetting module and the drop deflection mechanism. The capping member has a first position covering the nozzle array and a second position removed from the nozzle array.

摘要: In an inkjet printhead using a gas flow, typically air, to deflect select drop into catch, gas flow (air) ducts are employed to direct the air across the drop trajectories. Improved air ducts include liquid flow channels in a wall of the air duct are provided to allow ink to be removed from the air duct without disrupting the air flow in the duct. A process for cleaning the air duct using the liquid flow channel is also provided.

摘要: A drop generator operable to selectively form a drop having a first size and a drop having a second size from liquid emitted through a nozzle associated with the drop generator. The drop having the first size and the drop having the second size travel along a drop trajectory with the first size being larger than the second size when compared to each other. Each of the drops has a drop velocity. A gas flow deflection system includes a gas flow that is directed at a deflection zone that comprises at least a portion of the drop trajectory. The gas flow in the deflection zone includes a velocity vector having a parallel velocity component and a perpendicular velocity component with the parallel velocity component and the perpendicular velocity component being defined relative to the drop trajectory.

摘要: A continuous inkjet printhead includes a jetting module including a nozzle operable to eject a continuous stream of fluid through the nozzle, a stimulation device operable to break the stream of fluid into first and second droplets having first and second volumes, wherein the droplet volumes travel along a first path, and a drop deflection mechanism that includes a gas flow path, a first flow path restriction positioned within the flow path, and a second flow path restriction positioned within the flow path, the second flow path restriction being non-parallel relative to the first flow path restriction, the drop deflection mechanism providing a gas flow which interacts with the first and second droplets to cause at least one of the first and second droplets to begin traveling along a second path.
