Abstract: A spark plug for an internal combustion engine includes a housing, an insulator, and a center electrode. The center electrode includes an inside electrode portion and an outside electrode portion. The housing includes a ground electrode projecting from a distal end portion of the housing toward the distal end side of the plug at a part in a plug circumferential direction. The outside electrode portion projects along a surface of the insulator tip in a direction away from a boundary with the inside electrode portion and includes a projection, which is capable of causing an electrical discharge between the ground electrode and the outside electrode portion. The projection is formed in a region in the plug circumferential direction. The projection and the ground electrode are located at positions different from each other in the plug circumferential direction.

Abstract: An ignition coil for an internal combustion engine includes a primary bobbin including a winding cylinder part and a connection part between the winding cylinder part and a connector part, a primary coil including a primary main coil and a primary sub coil, and a secondary coil. When one of the primary main coil and the primary sub coil that includes an innermost coil part around the winding cylinder part is defined as a firstly-wound coil and the other is defined as a secondly-wound coil, firstly-wound ends, which are ends of the firstly-wound coil, and secondly-wound ends, which are ends of the secondly-wound coil, are attached to the connection part, and a shortest distance from a central axis of the winding cylinder part to each of the firstly-wound ends is smaller than a shortest distance from the central axis of the winding cylinder part to each of the secondly-wound ends.

Abstract: A spark plug has a tubular ground electrode, an insulator, and a center electrode. The insulator has an insulator protruding portion protruding to a tip end side in a plug axial direction with respect to the ground electrode. The center electrode 4 has an exposed portion exposed through a tip end of the insulator protruding portion. Abstract: In an ignition coil for an internal combustion engine, a spark plug is incorporated which has an insulator including an insulator head that has no corrugation. The ignition coil has a coil body part generating high voltage and a joint part, which holds therein a conducting member electrically connecting the coil body part and a spark plug. The joint part has a plug cap into which the insulator head of the spark plug is inserted and which is formed of an elastic member having a cylindrical shape. The plug cap has a close-contact part whose inner peripheral surface is closely brought into contact with an outer peripheral surface of the insulator. The close-contact part has a tip end-side close-contact part positioned at a tip end side with respect to a middle position in an axial direction, and a base end-side close-contact part positioned at a base end side with respect to the middle position. At least part of the base end-side close-contact part is provided with a strong strained force part that has strained force for fastening the insulator head, the strained force being stronger than strained force of all portions of the tip end-side close-contact part.
