摘要: This invention is a system and method for managing sessions and memory resources used for replication of data in a data storage environment. In one embodiment, a methodology is provided that inspecting a plurality of copy sessions forming a copy session group operating in the data storage environment to determine the size and number of buffers each session is using, and determining whether to abort a session of the group and reallocate its buffers by redistributing its memory for use by itself and another session based on the inspection. In other embodiments, implementations include a system, a computer program product, or an apparatus, wherein each embodiment is configured for carrying out the steps involved in the methodology.

摘要: Default isolation method assists in correction of a fault in a peer-to-peer communication link between two storage processors. Each processor is associated with a fault indicator which is activated according to the method to guide a technician in replacing the storage processors one at a time to determine the fault with the peer-to-peer communication link. Upon detection of a fault, one of the processors is suspended so that a technician may replace it with a new storage processor. The surviving storage processor detects whether a new storage processor has been replaced. If the peer-to-peer communication link still fails, the surviving processor instructs the peer processor to boot up and then suspends itself. Communications outside of the peer-to-peer communication link can take place between the processors by leaving a message in at least one of the disk drives which is periodically checked by the processors.

摘要: A method and system for use in managing data storage is disclosed. Data storage in a data storage system is managed. The data storage system comprises a first data storage tier and a second data storage tier configured such that the performance characteristics associated with one of the data storage tiers is superior to the other data storage tier. I/O activity is determined in connection with a data group stored on one of the first and second data storage tiers. It is determined whether to migrate the data group stored on the one of the first and second data storage tiers to the other data storage tier based on the performance characteristics associated with the other data storage tier and the determined I/O activity. The data group is migrated to the other data storage tier in response to determining to migrate the data group to the other data storage tier. The data group is processed in response to determining to migrate the data group to the other data storage tier such that fragmentation in connection with the data group is substantially reduced.

摘要: A method and related system are disclosed for controlling the operation of a fixed rate pumped hydrocyclone liquid separation unit to maintain a desired back-pressure therein. A pressure control valve and a liquid level control valve are connected to a separated liquid discharge conduit extending from at least one hydrocyclone. The pressure control valve operates in response to the pressure of the liquid introduced into the hydrocyclone and the liquid level control valve operates in response to the liquid level within a liquid holding vessel that supplies the liquid through a fixed rate pump to the hydrocyclone.
