摘要: A method and system thereof for monitoring the data transfer integrity of a wireless connection between two devices, in particular two Bluetooth-enabled transceivers. A number of data packets are transmitted from one of the two devices to the other in a first-occurring transmission. The receiving device indicates to the transmitting device whether any of the data packets were not successfully received. Any data packets that were not successfully received are retransmitted. The integrity of the wireless connection is measured, for example, by determining the number of data packets successfully transmitted in the first-occurring transmission relative to the total number of data packets transmitted and retransmitted. The measure of wireless connection integrity can be provided to a user via either a visual or audio indication, or it can be provided to another device such as a computer system, so that corrective actions can be taken if needed in order to improve the data transfer integrity of the wireless connection.

摘要: An application program runs on an embedded processor connected via a link to a host. When the application program identifies a need for communication over said link, it reads a pointer location to see whether its contents represent a valid address in memory, and if so the program calls that address. It then checks the code at the address to see whether an entry point is stored there, and if so uses that entry point to access a subroutine enabling communication over the link.

摘要: The present invention relates to an apparatus for controlling safety-critical processes. The apparatus includes at least one safe control unit for controlling the safety-critical processes and at least two safe signal units which are connected via I/O channels to the safety-critical processes. The safe control unit and the safe signal units are connected to a common fieldbus. The safe signal units communicate with the safe control unit, but not with one another, when the apparatus is in the control mode. The safe signal units have an evaluator for evaluating a fault message which is broadcasted across the fieldbus, as well as a switching device which autonomously change the safety-critical process to a safe state when a fault message which is evaluated as being relevant occurs.

摘要: An apparatus, method and computer program product for stopping processors in a multiprocessor system without using non-maskable interrupts are provided. With the apparatus, method and computer program product, at system initialization time, a copy of the operating system (OS) kernel is copied to a new physical location in memory. When a processor enters the debugger due to the occurrence of an event, the debugger switches its virtual-to-physical address mapping to point to the new copy of the OS kernel. The original copy of the OS kernel is then modified by inserting breakpoints, e.g., interrupts, in a repeating pattern in the text of the original copy of the OS kernel, with the exception of the breakpoint handler text in the original copy of the OS kernel. A cache flush of the remaining processors is then instigated thereby forcing the remaining processors to refetch instructions from the OS kernel. When the remaining processors fetch the OS kernel instructions, the instructions are fetched from the modified OS kernel. Thus, the processors encounter the inserted breakpoints and enter a breakpoint handler. The breakpoint handler then, by virtue of the switched virtual-to-physical address mapping, redirects the processor to the new copy of the OS kernel and handles the breakpoint in a normal fashion, e.g. causes the processor to enter the debugger.

摘要: Each of a plurality of ROM correction units in a computer system includes a register for storing a subject address of an original instruction group having a bug, a comparator for comparing a current address against the subject address, a selector for selecting the current address or the branch address of a modified instruction group based on the result of the comparison by the comparator, and a flag generator for setting a correction flag when the selector selects the branch address. The computer system recognizes the order of the plurality of ROM correction units based on the correction flag. A plurality of bugs in a program can be modified by respective ROM correction units.

摘要: An in-circuit emulation system consisting of an emulation base and a slightly modified, flash-based COP8 architecture microcontroller. In addition to the flash memory where the User's program resides, the COP8 device includes a small ROM area with a monitor program that is used to communicate commands and data with the emulation base. Two new instructions are added, one for entering the ROM area and one for exiting it. A small set of the COP8 device's digital pins are modified to allow data, status and control to be exchanged between the COP8's CPU and the emulation base. These modified COP8 pins are recreated by the emulation base so that emulation occurs with the COP8's full complement of I/O. The content of the signals shared between the COP8 and the emulation base allows for a full range of emulation capabilities. The COP8 device is emulated in situ on the printed circuit board providing accurate operation of precision peripherals and environmental variables. The signals shared with the emulation base are routed to a standard, simple connector. The connector is configured so that the printed circuit board can be easily switched between a development system and a production system.

摘要: A method for battery condition testing. In one embodiment, the method is comprised of interrupting AC power service to a data storage system. The interruption causes an exhaustible power source to provide operating power to the data storage system. The exhaustible power source is coupled to said data storage system. The exhaustible power source is adapted to provide operating power to the data storage system when the AC power service to the data storage system is interrupted. The method is further comprised of discharging the exhaustible power source by operating the data storage system with the exhaustible power source for a specified period of time less than full discharge but sufficient to fully flush the cache. The exhaustible power source passes the condition testing provided the exhaustible power source provides operating power to the data storage system for the specified period of time. The method is further comprised of recharging the exhaustible power source subsequent to the exhaustible power source passing the condition testing.
