    Abstract: A computing device includes one or more memory devices storing executable instructions, one or more processors configured to execute the instructions, a programmable display screen configured to display text-based information, a user activity sensor, a battery configured to provide power to the one or more processors, and a battery status visual indicator. The battery status indicator is located on a surface of the computing device and is configured to display, in response an indication from the user activity sensor of an interaction by a user with the computing device, non-text-based information indicating a status of the battery.

    Abstract: On a computing device, an overview mode is provided to present overview windows of all applications currently running on the computing device. When one or more applications are running in a windowed mode, a first overview window is generated for each of the one or more applications running in the windowed mode; when one or more applications are running in a full-screen mode, a second overview window is generated for each of the one or more applications running in the full-screen mode. The one or more first overview windows in the first space can be arranged in one or more rows in a first overview space, and the one or more second overview windows in the second space in a stack in a second overview space. The arranged overview windows may then be displayed in the overview mode of the computing device.

    Abstract: A user device incorporates a user interface platform that combines user notifications and various operational settings as part of a common display region. The notifications and settings are separated from one another, and the user interface dynamically adjusts the arrangement of these features to make it convenient for a user to quickly see the information and to manage it. The setting information may incorporate user logins, network and communication data, display and audio information, as well as other settings. And the application-related notifications may include information about active applications such as an email account, audio or video calls, texting apps, social media platforms, calendars, music players, video players, and the like. In response to a new notification, the system may consolidate the operational settings into core settings information. The system may also auto collapse (or expand) the notification list when a new notification is received.

    Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for transferring notifications between multiple computing devices. A notification is provided for display at a first computing device associated with a user account. An indication is received of a user gesture for moving the notification to a second computing device associated with the user account, the second computing device being remote from the first computing device. In response to the indication, the notification is provided to the second computing device for display at the second computing device and removed from the first computing device so that the notification is no longer displayed at the first computing device.

    Abstract: A computer-implemented method for enabling a user to switch applications within a plurality of active applications in a personal computing device having a touch-sensitive display is provided. The method includes detecting a tablet configuration in the personal computing device.     Abstract: The subject technology discloses configurations for determining a minimum dots per inch (DPI) setting for displaying graphical content in a window based on a native pixel density of a display. Respective graphical content is scaled for displaying in a first window based on the minimum DPI setting to fit a horizontal dimension of the first window. The subject technology then scales respective graphical content for displaying in a second window based on the minimum DPI setting to fit a horizontal dimension of the second window. In some configurations, the graphical content in the first window is scaled at a different DPI setting than the graphical content in the second window.

    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate generally to morphing window controls associated with a window on a display of a client computing device. In order to do so, a plurality of window controls may be presented. Each window control is configured to perform an original function to control the window. The computing device is configured to receive a first input associated with a first one of the plurality of window controls. The first input may provide for initiating a function associated with the first window control. In response to the received first input, the original function associated with another window control is converted to an alternate function. The alternate function of the other window control is configured to perform a different task to control the window than the original function of the other window control.
