Abstract: After a command to stop recording a video is received, an image capture device may buffer footage in a buffer memory. The buffer memory may be used as a post-capture cache. The footage buffered in the buffer memory may be appended to the end of previously captured footage, appended to the beginning of subsequently captured footage, and/or used to bridge two separately captured footage.

Abstract: An image capture device may provide framing recommendations for capture of visual content. Framing recommendation may include information on how one or more subjects are to be positioned with respect to the image capture device. Framing recommendation may guide a user in how the image capture device and/or the subject(s) are to be positioned. Framing recommendation may include suggestions on orientation of the image capture device with respect to the subject(s) to improve composition of the subject(s) within the visual content. The image capture device may provide these aforementioned framing recommendations visually, audibly, and/or through other means. For example, the image capture device may provide framing recommendations in form of visual overlays/directional graphs and/or audible instructions (e.g., directions on subject/image capture device positioning provided through a speaker of the image capture device). Framing recommendation may be static (not changing over time) or dynamic (changing over time).

Abstract: An image capture system and methods for auto-recording media data are herein disclosed. A method includes receiving an activity type selection, selecting an activity-specific monitor based on the activity type selection, and capturing media data. The activity-specific monitor defines one or more auto-recording conditions that, when satisfied, cause the image capture system to begin recording media data. The method includes executing the activity-specific monitor, the activity-specific monitor: receiving current sensor data from the one or more sensors; determining whether the one or more auto-recording conditions defined by the activity-specific monitor are met by the current sensor data; and outputting a notification indicating that the one or more auto-recording conditions are met when the auto-recording conditions are met. The method further includes writing portions of the media data captured after the auto-recording conditions are met to the persistent storage of the image capture system based on receipt of the notification.
