Disclosed herein is a liquid electrophotographic ink composition comprising a resin comprising a copolymer of an alkylene monomer and a monomer selected from acrylic acid and methacrylic acid; a liquid carrier; and an anti-caking agent present in an amount of up to 1 wt. % of the total solids of the composition. Also disclosed is a method of printing the liquid electrophotographic ink composition and a printed substrate.
Abstract:
A method is disclosed. The method may comprise forming an image on a surface by controlled electrostatic transfer of a fluid print agent comprising thermoplastic resin disposed in a carrier fluid The method may also comprise heating the fluid print agent on the surface to remove the carrier fluid and to melt the thermoplastic resin and allowing the melted thermoplastic resin in continuous areas on the surface to fuse together to form an image from fused print agent. The method may further involve providing a printed substrate bearing the image formed from fused print agent. The method may further comprise irradiating the printed substrate with an ultraviolet narrowband source so as to cause heating of the fused print agent to melt the thermoplastic resin. A print system and a print apparatus are also disclosed.

A method for producing a cyan liquid electrophotographic ink composition includes: dispersing in a first portion of carrier fluid cyan pigment particles and inorganic spacer particles, the inorganic spacer particles having a particle size (d50) of 0.1 μm or less, such that the inorganic spacer particles adhere to the cyan pigment particles; heating a polymer resin in a second portion of carrier fluid to dissolve the polymer resin; adding the dispersion of the cyan pigment particles having the inorganic spacer particles adhered thereto in the first portion of carrier fluid to the dissolved polymer resin in the second portion of carrier fluid; cooling the carrier fluid at a controlled rate to effect precipitation of the polymer resin from the carrier fluid such that a coating of the resin is formed on the cyan pigment particles having the inorganic spacer particles adhered thereto, thereby producing the cyan liquid electrophotographic ink composition.

A coated silver colored colorant includes a silver colored pigment, and a primer polymer at least partially coating the silver colored pigment. The primer polymer has a glass transition temperature that is less than 40° C. A passivating polymer is attached to the primer polymer. The passivating polymer has a glass transition temperature that is greater than 40° C.
