A system for wireless optical data communications comprises a first gateway device including a processor onboard a first aircraft, and a first set of light sources onboard the aircraft in operative communication with the gateway device. The light sources comprise a plurality of light emitting diodes. A first optical receiver is onboard the aircraft and in operative communication with the gateway device. In a transmission mode, the gateway device is configured to monitor a databus onboard the aircraft for digital data selected for wireless optical transmission, encode the digital data selected for wireless optical transmission with a compatible optical modulation scheme, and broadcast the encoded digital data through modulated light emitted from the set of light sources. In a reception mode, the gateway device is configured to decode digital data from modulated light captured by the optical receiver from a wireless optical transmission from the ground or another aircraft.

A high-integrity auto-guidance and control method for use in conjunction with an aircraft electric taxi drive system comprises obtaining taxi path data generating in a plurality of processors taxi path guidance and control information from the taxi path guidance data, and sending commands derived from the taxi path guidance and control information from one of the plurality of processors based on a predetermined priority scheme to at least one electric taxi controller.

A gesture recognition system and method verifies the operability of the gesture system by providing a test target that is configured to generate a test stimulus that is recognizable by the gesture recognition system. The test stimulus from the test target is received and processed in the gesture recognition system to generate a test response. The processor verifies that the test response corresponds to the test stimulus.

A system and method is provided for detecting errors in a speech transmission system. A first audio stream is comprised of a plurality of words, upon which a plurality of independent voice-to-text conversions are performed. If it is determined that at least one of the plurality of independent voice-to-text conversions is error free, a text-to-voice conversion of the at least one error-free voice-to-text conversion is performed to create a second audio stream.

Embodiments described herein provide for a system for verifying integrity of files uplinked to a remote vehicle. The system is configured to receive a first message authentication code (MAC) for the uplinked file, a first acknowledgement MAC for the MAC, and a first cyclic redundancy check (CRC) for the first MAC and the acknowledgement MAC. The system is also configured to compute a second MAC from the uplinked file, a second acknowledgement MAC from the second MAC and a second CRC from the second MAC and second acknowledgement MAC. Integrity of the uplinked file is verified by comparing the first CRC with the second CRC. If integrity of the uplinked file is confirmed, the uplinked file is accepted. If integrity of the uplinked file is not confirmed, the uplinked file is rejected.

An aircraft electric taxi system diagnostics and prognostics evaluation method, including receiving, with a computer, an electronically recorded first performance parameter of a first electric taxi system of a first aircraft during a taxi operational event at an airport; and comparing the first performance parameter with a first performance factor statistical model generated in response to the first performance parameter and first comparative performance parameters; and calculating a first performance parameter difference based on the comparison.

An electric taxi predictive performance system may provide a predicted performance for an electric based taxi system (eTaxi) based on environmental information related to a vehicle. In some embodiments, the vehicle may be an aircraft using eTaxi systems to move around an airport runway system. The electric predictive taxi performance system may provide real-time displayed data to help pilots evaluate eTaxi capabilities of the aircraft as conditions change.

The system may also include an aircraft taxi route database, an aircraft position determination unit; an aircraft performance database and a processor configured to a) integrate signals from the aircraft taxi route database, the aircraft position determination unit and aircraft performance database, and b) produce a motor deceleration signal to the motor controller when the aircraft arrives at a predetermined distance from a predetermined location so that the aircraft arrives at the location traveling at a desired speed.
