摘要： A capacitor charged beforehand is discharged according to a light surrounding a display unit. A data is decreased similarly to the voltage between the electrodes of the capacitor. A trigger signal is outputted if the data becomes equal to or less than a threshold value. A clock signal whose cycle of changing levels gradually becomes long is generated. A count value is updated at each change of the clock signal's level and the updated count value is outputted. The count value is sampled when the trigger signal is outputted.

摘要： According to an aspect of the invention, a binding device includes a first rotary member including a first serrated portion on its circumferential surface, a second rotary member including, on its circumferential surface, a second serrated portion to be engaged with the first serrated portion at an engaging position and configured to perform a binding process by rotating together with the first rotary member with a bundle of sheets pinched therebetween to form serrations in the sheet bundle in thickness direction and bring the sheets into engagement with each other while relatively moving the sheet bundle in a predetermined moving direction, and a clamping unit configured to, when the binding process is performed, clamp the sheet bundle at a clamping position upstream of the engaging position to apply a predetermined pulling force acting in a direction opposite to the moving direction to the sheet bundle.

The light-emitting element emits a laser beam in a direction that intersects with a direction in which a droplet of liquid is discharged. The beam is elliptical in cross section. The light-receiving element receives a scattered light generated by scattering of the laser beam by the droplet. The light-receiving element is externally adjacent to a circumference of the beam at a position where a beam diameter of the beam is small.

摘要： A light-emitting element emits a beam onto a droplet discharged from a nozzle. A light-receiving element receives a scattered light generated by scattering of the beam by the droplet. A discharge-speed controller controls a speed of discharge of the droplet from the nozzle to be set at the speed outside a normal discharge-speed range that is determined depending on a viscosity of a liquid. Finally, a failure detecting unit detects a liquid discharge failure from data of the scattered light received by the light-receiving element.
