    Abstract: This application relates to the field of communications technologies, and provides ambient light and optical proximity detection methods, a photographing method, and a terminal, so that an entire display screen of the terminal is used to display a user interface, and this improves user experience. The method specifically includes: controlling, by a terminal, some areas of a display screen to display a black picture for a plurality of times; and when the areas display the black picture, obtaining an intensity of ambient light detected by an ambient light sensor to adjust luminance of the display screen.

    Abstract: An ambient light detection method and an electronic device are provided to prevent leaked screen light and/or screen transmittance from affecting ambient light detection. The method is applied to an electronic device. A first ambient light detection unit and a second ambient light detection unit are disposed in the electronic device. A first photosensitive area of the first ambient light detection unit is used to detect intensity of first light, and a second photosensitive area of the second ambient light detection unit is used to detect intensity of second light. The first light includes ambient light and leaked screen light, and the second light includes the leaked screen light. A calibration coefficient is further configured in the electronic device. The method includes: the electronic device determines intensity of the ambient light based on a first value, a second value, and the calibration coefficient.

    Abstract: An embodiment of this application discloses a terminal. The terminal includes a side frame, a front cover, a back cover, a display panel, and an ambient light sensor. The front cover and the back cover respectively cover two opposite sides of the side frame. The display panel is fastened to one side of the front cover facing the back cover. An outer peripheral side of the display panel and an inner peripheral side of the side frame are disposed opposite to each other and form a light-transmitting gap therebetween. The light-transmitting gap forms a first projection on the front cover. Alight sensing surface of the ambient light sensor forms a second projection on the front cover. The terminal has a relatively high screen-to-body ratio.
