Abstract:
A process for alleviating bleed and improving color in printed elements comprises applying an anionic printing liquid and a cationic printing liquid to a substrate adjacent to one another, wherein at least one of the printing liquids contains a polymer and reacting the anionic and cationic printing liquids with one another; wherein the color integrity of the anionic and cationic printing liquids is maintained.

The A block and the B block(s) have molecular weights of at least 300. These inks give images having good print quality, water and smear resistance, lightfastness, and storage stability.
Abstract:
An ink for ink jet printers which comprises an aqueous carrier medium, pigment dispersion or dye and an amide diol or ester diol cosolvent penetrant such as hydroxypivalyl hydroxypivalate. The cosolvent penetrant has a solubility in water of at least 4.5 parts in 100 parts of water at 25.degree. C.The pigment dispersion consists of pigment particles and a dispersant, preferably a polymeric dispersant, having a hydrophilic segment and a segment that links to the pigment. These inks exhibit rapid drying, have excellent decap performance, are storage stable and give images having good print quality.
Abstract:
An improved process for preparing negative images from a photohardenable tonable element, wherein the unexposed photohardenable tonable element is tacky in a preselected temperature range, T.sub.1 -T.sub.2, in which temperature range the exposed photosensitive tonable element is nontacky but wherein the exposed element is retackifiable at elevated temperatures above T.sub.2. After imagewise exposure the unexposed areas have a colorless toning material applied to them at a temperature within the range T.sub.1 -T.sub.2 to make them nontacky at temperatures of at least up to T.sub.3, which is greater than T.sub.2. After heating to an elevated temperature above T.sub.2 but less than T.sub.3 the exposed areas have a contrasting toning material applied to them to give a negative or reverse image.
