Abstract: A network device synchronization method is provided. In various embodiments, a first SSM and a second SSM are received. The first SSM carries a first SSM code indicating a quality level of a first clock source and a first eSSM code indicating the quality level of the first clock source, the second SSM carries a second SSM code indicating a quality level of a second clock source. The second SSM lacks an eSSM code indicating the quality level of the second clock source, and a value of the first SSM code is equal to a value of the second SSM code. When a value of the first eSSM code is less than 0xFF, calibrating a frequency of the network device based on a timing signal of the first clock source.

Abstract: A time synchronization method includes, a boundary device of a third-party network side receives a synchronization packet carrying a time synchronization offset and is delivered by a boundary device of an upstream network side on the basis that boundary devices in an entire network are all boundary clock (BC) devices, where the time synchronization offset is a time offset between a time domain of the upstream network and a time domain of the third-party network, and the boundary device of the third-party network side transparently transmits the synchronization packet carrying the time synchronization offset to a boundary device of a downstream network side such that the boundary device of the downstream network side performs time synchronization with the boundary device of the upstream network side according to the time synchronization offset. Thus time synchronization among multiple time domains in a network.

Abstract: A clock port attribute recovery method includes a network device setting a value of a port attribute of a clock port of the network device to a first value based on the clock port not receiving any one of three types of clock messages: N synchronization messages, follow-up messages, and delay response messages within a timeout interval, where the first value indicates that a message is lost on the clock port. Based on a case that a recovery condition is met, the network device sets the value of the port attribute of the clock port to a second value, where the second value indicates that a status of the clock port is that the message is not lost.
