Abstract: Combined pulley housing and end gate construction for a traverse rod. For application to a slotted traverse rod, there is provided a pulley housing receivable and fastenable within such traverse rod. Said pulley housing is arranged for the support of cord pulleys in any desired manner and arrangement. Said pulley housing also supports a gate which positions drapery supporting means at the end of the rod and closes the slot to prevent the escape of hangers positioned therewithin when the drapery is retracted. The gate is preferably mounted for pivoting on an axis substantially transverse to the slot and in one embodiment contains a pocket which fits over the end hanger for holding it in a predetermined position in said slot and with respect to the rod. The gate beyond such pocket lies closely adjacent, or in, said slot and includes snap means engageable with an edge of said slot for retaining the gate in this closed position and thereby closing said slot to prevent escape of hangers therefrom when the draperies are retracted. The gate may, however, be easily opened for removal of hangers from said slot or for insertion of additional hangers into said slot.

Abstract: An improved method for draping curtains which allows one person to form a decorative window treatment known as a bishop tail without requiring any specialized skills or training. The method described hereinafter allows a fabric scarf to be draped from a rod of conventional configuration in a decorative manner about a window opening. The method uses hook and loop type fasteners means to secure the fabric scarf to the rod and thereby prevent the fabric scarf from sagging at the top. Curtain rings are placed over the ends of the depending fabric scarf and then installed on the rod near its ends to allow a portion of the fabric scarf to form a decorative downwardly curved arc of fabric. The newly formed arc is then "dressed" or folded into pleats in accordance with the teaching of U.S. Pat. No. 5,146,972 to William L. Tacchella. A hook closure ring is then installed through the previously hemmed edges of the fabric scarf and hung by a cord from the wall bracket to form the bishop tail.An alternate embodiment is shown with a pair of bishop sleeves placed below the previously described bishop tail of the preferred embodiment. A second section of fabric scarf is hemmed on one edge and hung by a hook closure ring from the bracket behind the first bishop sleeve. The depending portion of the draped end of the fabric scarf is gathered and placed within a hook closure ring. The hook closure ring is then suspended by a pinch ring from the rear of the fabric scarf to form a bishop sleeve. The process is then repeated for the other side of the window.

Abstract: An improved curtain rod assembly is disclosed which includes a track having a decorative fascia attached thereto. The track and fascia cooperate to permit the fascia to be easily attached thereto. A return plate is configured for attachment to the track and cooperates with a bracket assembly to support the track from a wall the appropriate distance. A side fascia is configured for attachment with the return plate and an elbow connects the fascia on the track and the return plate to provide an esthetically pleasing system.

Abstract: A rod and bracket assembly for supporting a curtain or drapery and having rod means capable of extending through, and holding in an upright manner, a wide hem at the upper end of a drapery or curtain, whereby to simulate a valance at said upper end. End cap means are connected to the ends of said rod and are removably attachable to appropriate hook means on brackets, which are mountable on a wall. Thus, said end cap means provides the connecting means between said brackets and said rod and facilitate the mounting of the curtain onto said rod without snagging and provides an attractive termination for the ends of such rod.

Abstract: Suspension system for a drapery, particularly a drapery comprising vertically aligned wooden slats. There is provided a traverse rod suspension system for a drapery comprising a plurality of vertically arranged wooden, or other substantially rigid, slats, same being pivotally related to each other along adjacent vertical edges. The system provides a traverse rod preferably slotted along its bottom with a series of composite hangers, provided therein, such hangers being connected by a flexible member, as a cord. Said composite hangers each has an upper portion arranged in sliding, nonrotatable, relationship with said rod and a bottom section which may be fixed appropriately to the drapery and is pivotally and releasably connectible to said first section. In the preferred embodiment, the first section has a side opening slot with a slightly constricted entry and the lower section has a headed hanger receivable snappably into said slot. Said hanger then has means appropriately engageable with the upper edge of said drapery as well as further means appropriately engageable with the respective leading and trailing (normally stationary) vertical edges of said drapery.

Abstract: Means for supporting and propelling a traversable drapery. For supporting and propelling a traversable drapery, there is provided a master carrier having means thereon for resisting side thrust and a baton positioned on the room side of said drapery connected through the drapery to said master carrier. In a preferred embodiment, there is provided a substantially rigid plate fixed to the upper edge of the drapery for the transmission of propelling force therefrom to the drapery and a baton supporting device positioned on the room side of the drapery and connected through the drapery and through said plate solidly to the master carrier whereby to sandwich the drapery firmly between the baton support device and said plate and to sandwich both said plate and said drapery firmly between the baton support device and the master carrier. The baton may consist of flexible or rigid means connected to or integral with the baton support device.

Abstract: An improved membrane-type end closure member for composite containers or the like is disclosed, characterized in that the end closure member is deformed to define an annular deformation of generally V-shaped or flat bottom transverse cross-section, which deformation extends partially within the end of the container when the end closure member is bonded to the open upper end of the container body. The annular deformation, which is arranged between the annular flange portion that is bonded to the end extremity of the container and a central circular disk portion of the end closure member, serves to reinforce the relatively thin flexible membrane member and flexes or "domes" in response to variations in internal pressure of the container to maintain the container in a closed condition.
