    Abstract: A liquid crystal includes first and second substrates, the first substrate including intersecting data lines and scan lines. A liquid crystal layer is sandwiched therebetween. Also, a plurality of sub-pixels districted by data lines and gate lines, and arranged along the long-axis and the short-axis directions in a matrix. A pixel electrode in the sub-pixels includes a central portion. A common electrode including linear electrodes arranged along the data lines and disposed with gaps therebetween. Sub-pixels are bent at the center portion, such that the linear electrodes or the gaps in both sides of the sub-pixels are inclined in opposite directions with respect to the long-axis direction. At least one of the linear electrodes or at least one of the gaps has a bent portion at the central portion of the respective pixel electrode. The common electrode is provided on liquid crystal layer side over the pixel electrode.

    Abstract: A detection apparatus includes a first substrate, a first electrode, a plurality of second electrodes, a detection controller, and a second electrode controller. The first electrode is disposed on the first substrate. The second electrodes have an area smaller than the area of the first electrode and overlap the first electrode. The detection controller is coupled to the first electrode and detects a detection signal corresponding to a capacitance change in the first electrode. The second electrode controller supplies, to some of second electrodes in the second electrodes, a guard signal for suppressing a capacitance change in overlapping areas of the first electrode overlapping the respective second electrodes.

    Abstract: A display device includes a substrate, a plurality of pixel electrodes, a switching element, and a first electrode. The substrate has a first surface and a second surface opposite to the first surface. The pixel electrodes are provided to the first surface side and supplied with a pixel signal for displaying an image. The switching element is provided to the first surface side and coupled to the pixel electrodes.     Abstract: According to an aspect, a detection apparatus includes a touch detection surface having two dimensions, a touch detection unit and a force detection unit. The touch detection unit includes: first electrodes extending along a first direction; and a first signal output unit configured to output a first signal indicating a position of the touch operation in a second direction. Each first electrode includes divided electrodes provided in the first direction. First detection regions each provided by bundling the divided electrodes arranged in the second direction are set. The force detection unit includes a base electrode configured such that distances between the base electrode and the respective divided electrodes change when the first electrodes bend according to the applied force applied. The force signal is a signal based on electrostatic capacitances obtained by individual detection.

    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device includes a plurality of gate lines, a plurality of data lines intersecting with the gate lines, a plurality of pixel electrodes, and a sensor drive controller which includes a plurality of common electrodes facing the pixel electrodes and detects a touch by controlling the common electrodes. The sensor drive controller selects at least one of the common electrodes, and supplies a sensor signal to the selected common electrode to set the selected common electrode to a sensing state. The sensor drive controller sets at least the common electrode adjacent to the common electrode set to the sensing state to a guard state and sets the other common electrodes to a floating state.
