摘要: A method and a GGSN support node for sending data packets to a mobile station in a mobile communications system from an external communication system. The GGSN receives data packets from the external communication system in a first plurality of data flows which it maps to a second plurality of data flows in the mobile communications system. It establishes at least one filter for controlling the mapping and associates the filter with the mobile station. It also maps at least one of the data flows on the basis of the filter and configures the filter on the basis of information which preferably originates from the mobile station.

摘要: The invention relates to a method for allocating resources for a data transmission connection between a wireless communication device and a mobile communication network. In the method, the information to be transmitted is divided into at least a first and a second quality of service class. For the data transmission connection, either a fixed resource or a dynamic resource is allocated on the basis of the quality of service class in which the information to be transmitted in the data transmission connection is classified.

摘要: A method of transmitting Internet data between a mobile host and a remote host coupled via the Internet and a GSM/GPRS cellular telephone network. A plurality of Internet Quality of Service (QoS) levels are defined, in terms of the guaranteed transmission delay over the Internet, using RSVP. A guaranteed QoS is mapped to a circuit switched transmission mode (HSCSD) of the telephone network while a Controlled Load and a Best Effort QoS are mapped respectively to two different service levels of a packet switched transmission mode (GPRS) of the radio telephone network. Prior to transmitting Internet data, transmission capacity in the Internet is reserved, if necessary, to ensure the allocated QoS level is met. The transmission is then made over the Internet and the telephone network, using the transmission mode in the telephone network which is mapped to the allocated QoS.

摘要: An implementation of packet data control protocol (PDCP) parameter negotiation in a universal mobile telephone communications service (UMTS) which can also be used to improve GSM/GPRS XID negotiation methods, where the timing for exactly when the new parameters are to take effect must be known includes either a GPRS-type reset solution or a PDCP-header based change indicator solution. In the GPRS-type reset solution, PDCP negotiations are made and then connections are reset to put into effect the new PDCP parameters for use. The second solution is to add a change indicator, e.g., a bit (C-bit) to the PDCP-PDU's header part. The originator informs using this bit that new parameter values are to take effect for use.

摘要: A method is disclosed for a mobile station for performing a handover from a first network connection to a second network connection. A mobile telecommunication system provides for non-real time telecommunication connections over a radio interface between mobile stations and the fixed parts of the mobile telecommunication system. At least one active non-real time telecommunication connection is between a mobile station and the fixed parts of the mobile telecommunication system is suspended (704) before performing a handover (702′) from the first network connection to the second network connection. After the new connection has been established the suspended non-real time telecommunication connection are resumed (705).

摘要: In a telecommunication device the handling of data to be transmitted proceeds according to a protocol stack having a L3 layer and a MAC layer. For handling data flows between the L3 layer and the MAC layer the following steps are perfomed: a flow of data to be transmitted coming from the L3 layer is demultiplexed into a number of component data flows, each component data flow having a certain Quality of Service requirement, the component data flows are arranged into groups where the Quality of Service requirement of each component data flow in a group is similar to the Quality of Service requirements of the other component data flows belonging to the same group, the component data flows are multiplexed groupwise into multiplexed data flows and the multiplexed data flows are outputted to the MAC layer.

摘要: A link between a mobile station operating within a universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS) is checked either at the mobile station itself or within a Radio Network Controller (RNC) of the UMTS to determine an error rate greater than a threshold. If found to be operating at greater than the error rate threshold, the bitrate of the link is reduced. If more than one PDP context is present then the PDP contexts can be reduced one at a time, according to selected criteria, until the error rate is reduced below the threshold. Once the interference is reduced to a level that will support the services at their former level, the mobile station can once again begin freely operating at a bitrate between the minimum guaranteed bitrate and a maximum bitrate, commencing randomly if under the control of the mobile station, or according to a timed sequence if controlled from the RAN.

摘要: The invention relates to a method for handling a request by a first communication device 11 connected to a network of a communication system to establish a packet switched session with a second, wireless communication device 12, which session requires the second communication device 12 to be connected to a network which enables the establishment of the session. In order to enable an enhanced handling of such a request, it is proposed that it is first determined whether the second communication device 12 is currently connected to such a network. In case it is determined that the second device 12 is not connected to such a network, a corresponding indication is transmitted to the first device 11. The user of the first device 11 is then informed via the first device 11 that the requested session cannot be established. The invention relates equally to a communication system enabling such a method and to corresponding elements 11, 13 of such a system.
