The system has a unit provided in the base station for simultaneously sending reference signals on the subcarriers with the same level to the at least one radio terminal station, a report unit provided in the at least one radio terminal station for reporting to the base station received conditions of the reference signal of each subcarrier or of each subband corresponding to a frequency band occupied by a plurality of subcarriers, and a unit provided in the base station for allocating the subcarrier or the subband to each of the packets to be transmitted depending upon the reported received conditions of the subcarrier or the subband, the allocation being performed in a transmission order of the packets.
Abstract:
To achieve an improved support for introduction of server pools in packet networks and further to achieve transparency for applications the present invention provides a communication apparatus running a protocol stack implementation for interworking between a signaling source node and a signaling target node. The communication apparatus comprises a first protocol implementation unit (SCTP) adapted to run a signaling control layer on top of a packet transfer network (IP) for exchange of signaling messages via at least one signaling association. Further, the communication apparatus comprises a second protocol implementation unit (SUP, M3UA) adapted to run a user adaptation layer on top of the signaling control layer (SCTP) for support of signaling connection control services (RANAP) used by the signaling source node. A name mapping unit is adapted to receive a signaling target node name from the signaling source node and to map the signaling target node name into a peer signaling association.

Abstract:
A communication system utilizes an open system network protocol, such as the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), to transport Intelligent Network signaling messages from an SS7 network to a service provider which is not directly linked to the SS7 network. A gateway/bridge is provided between the SS7 network and a network which operates in accordance with an Internet protocol to transform Internet protocol messages, such as TCP/IP format messages, into SS7 format, and vice versa. In this way, an Internet protocol network may be used to transport Intelligent Network signaling messages between an SS7 network and a non-SS7 network service provider.
Abstract:
There is disclosed an interworking function unit for transferring data between a wireless network and an Internet protocol (IP) data network coupled to the wireless network. The interworking function unit comprises a protocol conversion controller that receives incoming data packets from the wireless network, wherein the incoming data packets are generated by a first mobile station and are formatted according to a protocol associated with the wireless network. The interworking function unit converts the incoming data packets to IP data packets formatted according to an Internet protocol of the IP data network. The interworking function unit also comprises a first security controller for preventing unprovisioned mobile stations from accessing the IP data network through the wireless network. The first security controller receives the IP data packets and replaces each original IP packet header with a replacement IP packet header containing the IP address of a provisioning server.
Abstract:
In a wireless communications system, after a high data rate user is admitted and a supplemental channel is assigned to the user, a control message is sent to a receiver to communicate for power ramp-up and ramp-down profiles. The control message contains parameters of a data rate, a starting time and a duration of time as group in assigned fields in the message which is provided by a control signal source. In response to the control message, a controller provides a rate controllable signal with reference to the parameters of the control message to a data encoder. A bursty input data stream is fed to a buffer. The data encoder withdraws the data from the buffer in response to the rate controllable signal. The bit rate transitions in the bursty input data stream are smoothed with reference to the parameters. There is provided an output data stream having smoother data rate transitions than the input data stream. It is possible to solve problems with 3G CDMA systems which have sudden interference changes resulting from the bursty nature of high-speed data transmissions.

Abstract:
A communication control mechanism installable in the communications controller of an ISDN terminal adapter is operative to conduct in-band communications with its digital terminal device during an internet communication session between the digital terminal device and a digital communication network interface of an internet service provider. The terminal adapter monitors the data link establishment communication exchange between the network access server and the personal computer, to identify and capture internet protocol addresses for the digital terminal device and the network access interface. These addresses are then used by the terminal adapter to communicate in-band with the digital terminal device using user datagram protocol (UDP)-based messages.
Abstract:
A technique identifies a data session flowing through entities of a multi-protocol network based on information contained within a service request provided by a user of the network and without requiring knowledge of the protocols used by the session. A translation server translates the service request into session parameters for use by a correlation engine. The correlation engine creates at least one filter containing searching criteria pertaining to the session and passes the filter to at least one protocol server configured to obtain specific protocol-related information pertaining to the session. The protocol server searches a repository for information matching the filter and, if found, returns a list of sessions.
Abstract:
A network adapter includes a bypass buffer with sufficient capacity to store a packet from an upstream neighboring adapter and to store at least one additional incoming packet as a local packet is sent. The adapter also includes control logic which monitors the bypass buffer to determine whether the adapter may send local data packets. A network may be formed of such network adapters linked through counterrotating rings. If the control logic determines that the bypass buffer has sufficient storage available to avoid overflow while the adapter sends the local packet, the adapter sends the local packet. The control logic may choose to send a local packet only if there is sufficient room available within the bypass buffer to store a packet the same size as the local packet which is to be sent, thereby insuring that the bypass buffer does not overflow before the adapter can resume transmitting data from the bypass buffer. If there is not sufficient room within the adapter's bypass buffer, the adapter requests a pause in transmissions from its upstream neighbor which pause will permit the adapter to empty its bypass buffer and to then send a local packet. If the upstream neighbor cannot accommodate the pause request, it, in turn, requests a pause from its own upstream neighboring adapter, and so on, until a pause is effected and the original pause-requesting adapter can empty its bypass buffer and transmit its local packet.
