A discharge flow control rate valve for a multiple cylinder type reciprocating pump has a flow rate control valve associated with two cylinders of the pump. The flow control valve has a bypass passage connecting the suction side of the pump with a stepped cylinder chamber provided in the body member of the control valve. A needle valve fitted with a separate valving element is reciprocably disposed in the stepped cylinder chamber and operates to return a part of the fluid in the first cylinder or in the first and second cylinders to the suction side of the pump as a function of the intrusion distance of the valve into the cylinder chamber so as to modify the overall discharge flow rate of the pump.

An electric vehicle control device is disclosed which includes a main circuit for supplying power from a d.c. power supply to a driving motor through a chopper, a phase shifter for controlling the conduction ratio of the chopper in such a manner that a current flowing through the driving motor is proportional to an instruction value determined by how much an accelerator pedal is trodden, a circuit for instructing a regenerative braking operation, and a changeover switch for changing over the main circuit between a power running state and a regenerative braking state. The changeover switch is changed over in the regenerative braking state when another power running state in the direction opposite to the current running direction is instructed in a predetermined time after the stop of a power running state where the chopper had a conduction ratio greater than a preset value.

In a piston for a piston pump including a stopper and a flange fittedly mounted on one end of the piston rod effecting a reciprocating strokes within a cylinder, a reinforcing ring member is fitted between a suction side of a piston packing and a piston member, so that the piston packing can not be forced out when a high pressure is exerted thereon. Also, friction of the piston member relative to the cylinder, which would lead to wear of such members, can be avoided, and in the event that the packing is worn, the airtightness between the piston member and the cylinder can be maintained by the reinforcing ring.
