Abstract:
A method for printing an electronic document (ED) using a multifunction printer (MFP), including: obtaining, by the MFP, an image by scanning a screen of a mobile device displaying a graphical code having a unique identifier (UID) of a print job associated with the ED; extracting, by the MFP, the UID of the print job from the image; sending, by the MFP, the UID of the print job to a print server over a first network operatively connecting the MFP and the print server; receiving, by the MFP and in response to sending the UID, the print job associated with the ED over the first network; and printing, by the MFP, a hardcopy of the ED after receiving the print job.
Abstract:
A master-slave data management system includes a bus in communication with a processor, a first data path separate from the bus providing the processor with communication to a first memory, and a second data path separate from the bus providing the processor with communication to a second memory. The processor is configured to form a redundant array of independent memories by establishing the first memory as a master memory and subsequently writing to the second memory to make the second memory a slave memory.
Abstract:
When extending the leader or tape from a traditional tape measure over a large distance, a user situated away from the body of the tape measure is unable to determine the length that has been extended at the leading edge. Presented herein is a retractable measuring device in which the body of the measuring device is configured to compute and broadcast the amount of tape that has been withdrawn from the body to a receiver. The receiver may be located at the leading edge of the tape or comprise a secondary device such as a smartphone. Alternatively, the broadcast may include tactile, audible, or visual feedback relating to the distance that may be received directly by the user. Additionally, the retractable device may include an interface for setting a desired length and provide either the user or receiver with feedback when the desired length has been reached.

Abstract:
A method for managing a first version and a second version of an electronic document (ED), including: obtaining a request to print the first version of the ED; generating, in response to the request, a print job based on the first version of the ED and identifying a storage location of the second version of the ED, of which at least a part of contents is different from the first version of the ED; and sending the print job to a printer to generate a hardcopy document (HD) based on the first version of the ED, where the HD includes a graphical element specifying the storage location of the second version of the ED, and where the second version of the ED is accessible to a reader of the HD by visiting the storage location specified in the graphical element of the HD.
Abstract:
A method for image processing a two-dimensional (2D) code, including: obtaining an image by scanning a screen displaying the 2D code using a plurality of pixels, where the image includes multiple hard edges corresponding multiple spaces on the screen between the multiple pixels; identifying a pixel pitch of the screen; reducing the multiple hard edges by applying a filter based on the pixel pitch to the image; and generating, after reducing the multiple hard edges, a binary image including the 2D code by applying a threshold function to the image.
Abstract:
A method for obtaining an image of an actively lit medium (ALM) using a capture device and an illumination source, including: calibrating the capture device for dark signal non-uniformity (DSNU); determining a final exposure value and a final gain value by executing at least one scan of the ALM using the capture device with the illumination source extinguished; and generating the image by scanning, with the illumination source extinguished, the ALM using the capture device set to the final exposure value and the final gain value.
Abstract:
An imager apparatus comprises a pixel and a first filter positioned in an incident light path for a portion of the pixel, the filter being operable to alternate between transmitting and reducing incident light on the pixel portion.
Abstract:
A memory management method includes, in one embodiment, saving a metadata-generating algorithm in a memory, assigning the metadata-generating algorithm to a metadata field and applying the metadata-generating algorithm on at least one file so that a processor can calculate metadata for a file having no metadata in said metadata field.
Abstract:
A template for a scanner system comprising a template body and an element for generating an optical pattern when scanned by the scanner system is provided. A method of scanning an image on a transparent media comprising executing a reflective scan by the scanner system over a predefined carriage translation distance, comparing data imaged during the reflective scan with a reference pattern and determining subsequent scan procedures based upon the results of the comparison is provided. A scanner system comprising a reflective scanner, a transparent media adapter operable to backlight a transparent media and a template comprising an element for generating an optical pattern when scanned by the reflective scanner is provided.
