摘要： Multiple user boxes are created beforehand in the hard disk drive of the MFP. The user specifies his own user box and saves image data therein. If the user extracts the image data from his user box and moves it to a folder on his own personal computer, the MFP 1 detects this action. When this user box is specified during a subsequent reading of image data, the storage destination for the image data is automatically deemed to be the folder on the personal computer to which the image data was previously moved.

摘要： A data management server that can prevent data stored in a user's folder on the server from being used by others when the user is not working, even in a client-server network environment. The data management server that manages data that can be used by multiple terminal devices, and constitutes a storage device in which separate storage areas are allocated for each user. A determination unit determines which of the terminal devices is in a state in which it is able to access the data management server. When a terminal device issues a request to access a separate storage area of the storage device, if it is determined by the determination unit that the terminal device of a user associated with the separate storage area is in a state in which it can access the data management server, an access management unit permits the requesting terminal device to access the data stored in the separate storage area. If the associated user's terminal device is not in such a state, the access management unit denies access to the data stored in the separate storage area. In an alternative embodiment, limited access for certain types of processes may be permitted when the associated user's terminal device is not in the access-enabled state.

摘要： An image forming apparatus which includes an electrophotographic copying machine operable to form an image on a recording paper and a laser printer operable to form an image on a recording paper independently of the copying machine. The image forming apparatus also includes a paper recirculating unit operable at a specific timing to replenish the recording paper, supplied from the paper feeder, onto the paper supply unit in the laser printer.

摘要： An improved photographic printer having a source of light such as a laser can produce printed copies from a photoconductive surface. Data representative of the images to be printed can be transformed into intermediate codes which are stored for driving a print controller. A timer can set a predetermined time depending on the length of the paper for the data transformation into the intermediate codes and various elements in the printer can be activated prior to the completion of the transformation, including forwarding copying paper to a predetermined position adjacent the photoconductive surface whereby excessive wear of the printer is prevented and an increased printing speed is achieved.

摘要： Upon reception of a data transmission request, an image input device 1 searches for transmission means available for transmission to a destination, such as transfer to FTP server or transmission by e-mail, and lists all the extracted available transmission means. Image input device 1 then creates a selection menu executed as an applet for receiving a selection of transmission methods from the destination. The destination can use the selection menu acquired from image input device 1 to designate the priority order of desired transmission means and a file name in reception of transmitted data. The selection menu thus created is transmitted to the image input device 1.
