Abstract:
The instant disclosure relates to sunscreen compositions. The sunscreen compositions include (a) at least one UV filter (b) at least one booster, (c) at least one thermosensitive polymer, and (d) at least one wetting agent. Sunscreen compositions comprising components (a)-(d) exhibit a surprisingly high sun protection factor (SPF). The disclosure further relates to methods of using the sunscreen compositions for protecting keratinous substances such as skin and hair from UV radiation.

A cosmetic composition including about 0.01 to about 3 wt. % of retinol; about 0.01 to about 1 wt. % of pentaerythrityl tetra-di-t-butyl hydroxyhydrocinnamate; about 0.01 to about 3 wt. % of trisodium ethylenediamine disuccinate; about 0.5 to about 7 wt. % of polyglyceryl-3 methylglucose distearate; about 0.9 to about 7 wt. % of sodium polyacrylate; about 0.5 to about 8 wt. % of an oil phase; and water, where all weight percentages are based on the total weight of the cosmetic composition. Additionally, the cosmetic composition is typically formulated to form an oil-in-water emulsion. Methods for treating damaged skin with cosmetic compositions are also disclosed herein.

A cosmetic composition for improved penetration of skin active agents including about 0.1 to about 10 wt. % of C-glycoside; about 0.1 to about 5 wt. % of polyglyceryl-3 methylglucose distearate; about 0.1 to about 5 wt. % of sodium polyacrylate; and water, wherein the cosmetic composition is an oil-in-water emulsion, and all weight percentages are based on the total weight of the cosmetic composition. A sunscreen composition includes a silicone phase that includes at least one silicone film former, a blend of silicones that includes at least one of each of a low viscosity silicone fluid, a silicone co-emulsifier and a self-emulsifying silicone elastomer. The composition includes a UV filter system that includes one or more UV filters. The silicone film former and blend of silicones are present in quantities sufficient to provide an SPF that is boosted by at least 100% as compared to a composition that lacks silicone film former, and the cosmetic composition has a unique texture that provides low friction and high glide.

A meta-stable composition, a product including the meta-stable composition, and a method of protecting a keratinous substrate from UV radiation by applying the product are provided. The meta-stable cosmetic composition includes at least one water-in-oil emulsifier having a hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) of less than 6, at least one non-ionic oil-in-water emulsifier having an HLB of greater than 9, at least one ionic surfactant, and at least one skin care active ingredient. The weight ratio of the at least one non-ionic oil-in-water emulsifier to the at least one water-in-oil emulsifier is about 0.02 to about 2.0. The meta-stable cosmetic composition converts from an oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion to a water-in-oil (W/O) emulsion upon rubbing.

The compositions may be in the form of an oil-in-water emulsion and include about 0.1 wt. % to about 6 wt. % of sodium silicate; at least 3 wt. % to about 11.5 wt. % of magnesium aluminum silicate; about 1 wt. % to about 15 wt. % of one or more fatty compounds; about 0.1 to about 20 wt. % of one or more nonionic emulsifiers; about 1 to about 25 wt. % of one or more polyols; and about 50 to about 90 wt. % of water, wherein the weight percentages are based on the total weight of the composition. The weight ratio of the sodium silicate to magnesium aluminum silicate is from 0.08 to 1.0 and a total amount of sodium silicate and magnesium aluminum silicate is 3 wt. % to 13 wt. %.
