Abstract:
The disclosure relates to systems and compositions comprising the systems for use in chemical treatment of keratinous substrates, such as the hair. The systems and compositions comprising the systems comprise at least one active agent and at least one acid. Methods of treating keratinous substrates with the systems and compositions comprising the systems are also disclosed.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to hair-treatment compositions, which are particularly useful for providing styling, hair manageability, hair care, and conditioning properties to hair. The hair-treatment compositions typically include: (a) about 1 to about 3 wt. % of one or more vegetable oils; (b) about 2 to about 4 wt. % of one or more solid fatty alcohols; (c) 1 wt. % or less of one or more nonionic surfactants; (d) one or more non-silicone shine enhancers; (e) one or more amidoamines: (f) one or more acids; and (g) water. The unique combination of ingredients results in a product having a milky appearance and a fluid viscosity. Kits comprising the hair-treatment compositions and methods of treating hair using the hair-treatment compositions are also disclosed.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates to compositions for treating keratinous substrates, such as the hair, comprising monoethanolamine and at least one carboxylic acid, as well as systems and methods for treating keratinous substrates with the compositions.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to compositions comprising: (a) at least two phenolic compounds (one flavoid and one non-flavoid); (b) at least one hydrotrope; (c) at least one emulsifier; (d) a lipid-soluble antioxidant; and (e) water. The at least one hydrotrope should be present in an amount that is effective to solubilize said at least two phenolic compounds in the water phase of the composition. The at least one emulsifier should be present in an amount sufficient to create a water-in-oil or oil-in-water emulsion that is effective to solubilize the lipid-soluble antioxidant. The compositions are useful for cosmetic purposes and other uses.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a composition containing: at least one cross-linked copolymers of acrylic acid and a hydrophobic co-monomer; at least one neutralized polyacrylic acid; at least one silicone acrylate; oil; water; and at least one sunscreen active, wherein the composition is initially clear in appearance and remains clear in appearance upon application onto wet skin.

Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to kits and methods for treating hair. The kits and methods incorporate each of the following components, together, separately, or in any combination thereof, in one or more hair-treatment compositions, provided that each individual component is included in a hair-treatment composition of the kit or method: (a) at least one amino acid or amino sulfonic acid, and/or a salt thereof, which is present in at least one of the one or more hair-treatment compositions in an amount of at least 0.5 wt. %; (b) a first non-polymeric mono, di, or tricarboxylic acid, and/or a salt thereof, which is present in at least one of the one or more hair-treatment compositions in an amount of at least 0.5 wt. %; (c) a second non-polymeric mono, di, or tricarboxylic acid, and/or a salt thereof, which is present in at least one of the one or more hair-treatment composition in an amount of at least 0.5 wt. %; and (d) at least one surfactant, which is present in at least one of the one or more hair-treatment compositions. The kits and methods are particularly useful for strengthening hair and minimizing and/or compensating for damage to hair, for example, damage caused by environmental stress and cosmetic treatments (e.g., repeated washing, drying, heating, chemical processing, etc.). Hair treated with the kits and methods exhibit desirable cosmetic properties such as smoothness, gloss, improved combability, and improved strength and elasticity.
