    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosed technology provide techniques for determining frictional forces bearing on a downhole drill string. In some implementations, a method of the disclosed technology can include steps for segmenting a plurality of continuous nodes of the drilling string into a first segment and a second segment, computing a first set of values corresponding with one or more nodes in the first segment using a first model, computing a second set of values corresponding with one or more nodes in the second segment using a second model, and determining a torque of the drill string based on the first set of values and the second set of values. In some aspects, the method can further include steps for determining a drag force on the drill string based on the first set of values and the second set of values. Systems and machine-readable media are also provided.

    Abstract: The disclosure presents apparatuses and systems to reduce drag and friction forces on a drill string located downhole a borehole. The drill string can have two or more movement isolators to allow a movement sensitive tool to be movement isolated from other portions of the drill string that have powered movement. The other drill string portions can be powered by a surface equipment or by a downhole movement motor attached to the drill string, such as a rotational mud motor, an agitator, a jar motor, or a rotary steerable. Portions of the drill string located further downhole than the movement sensitive tool can utilize a movement motor attached to the drill string to provide movement to reduce drag and friction force where the movement isolators can reduce the movement force experienced by the movement sensitive tool.

    Abstract: A method for calculating wellbore casing wear is provided that includes determining a wellbore boundary for an open hole wellbore segment, calculating a casing shape within the open hole wellbore segment based on one or more casing attributes, determining whether or not the casing shape exceeds the wellbore boundary, calculating casing wear based on the boundary of the open hole wellbore segment if the casing shape is determined to exceed the wellbore boundary, otherwise calculating the casing wear parameter based on the casing shape if the casing shape is determined not to exceed the wellbore boundary, and storing the casing wear parameter on a computer readable medium.

    Abstract: A directional tendency prediction system or method that provides: determining geometric parameters of a bottomhole assembly having at least a stabilizer, a bit, and an eccentering mechanism that provides a range of eccentricity settings; deriving a side force on the bit across the range of eccentricity settings; and based at least in part on the side force on the bit, determining a walk angle or dogleg severity (DLS) across the range of eccentricity settings.
