摘要: A drift robot performs a drifting operation of a wellbore in a subterranean formation. The drift robot includes an elongated body to be deployed into a well conduit in the wellbore, a propulsion system for propelling the elongated body to traverse the well conduit, retractable landings attached to the elongated body for selectively anchoring the elongated body to an internal surface of the well conduit, sensors attached to the elongated body to generate sensor measurements of the well conduit, a smart camera disposed at one end of the elongated body to capture camera images of interior features of the well conduit, and a controller that adjusts the elongated body based at least on the sensor measurements and the camera images.

摘要: A system and method for measuring an inside diameter of a pipe to determine if it exceeds a predetermined value using a plurality of fingers operatively connected to a spring. When in a fully extended position, the distance between opposite fingers is the predetermined value. The fingers are pivotable between a starting position, through the fully extended position, and to a failing position. In the starting position, an outer end of each finger engages an inside surface of the pipe to compress the spring. If the diameter exceeds the predetermined value as the system moves through the pipe, the pipe inside surface will no longer engage the fingers, which releases the spring causing the fingers to pivot to the failing position, where they remain until the system is removed from the pipe and manually reset.

The method comprises determining a length of the cutting plug based on the solids properties. The method comprises determining a cutting plug friction force based on the cutting plug length and a pressure differential across the cutting plug. The method comprises performing a drilling operation based on the cutting plug friction force.

摘要: A method to predict wireline caliper log data from logging-while-drilling data which includes collecting logging-while-drilling logs and caliper logs from a plurality of wells. The caliper log contains at least one channel. The method further includes pre-processing the logging-while-drilling data, selecting a subset of logs within the logging-while-drilling data, and aggregating the channels of the caliper logs forming aggregate logs. The method further includes splitting the pre-processed logging-while-drilling data and aggregate logs into train, validation, and test sets, wherein the validation and test sets may be the same, selecting a machine-learned model and architecture, and training the machine-learned model to form predicted aggregate logs from the logging-while-drilling data using the training set. Additionally, the method consists of using the machine-learned model to predict the aggregate logs using pre-processed logging-while-drilling data.

A wellbore is drilled with the bottom hole assembly, and at least a portion of a casing is printed with the 3D printing sub-assembly while drilling the wellbore. A related system includes a drill string having a length of drill pipe and a bottom hole assembly disposed at a distal end of the length of drill pipe. A 3D printing sub-assembly is mounted on the bottom hole assembly, wherein the printing sub-assembly includes a printer housing and a 3D printing head mounted at the printer housing. A control guides the 3D printing head to print at least a portion of a casing at a location radially away from the central longitudinal axis of the drill string.

The drilling fluid contains drill cuttings of different sizes that arrive at surface at different times, and the drill cuttings originate from different formation layers at different depths along the wellbore. Such techniques may include extracting samples of drill cuttings from the drilling fluid and repeating this step as necessary to provide samples of drill cuttings that arrive at surface at different recorded times; characterizing one or more formation attributes associated with the drill cuttings; and for each formation attribute, estimating a distribution of formation attribute characterization versus depth of provenance.

摘要: Systems and methods include a system for deploying and using a customized logging-while-drilling (LWD) tool. A command is provided by a tool control system to a mechanical drive of a LWD tool to cause pads and caliper fingers of the LWD tool to extend radially, lock in place using a locking mechanism, and begin to capture downhole measurements while the LWD tool is deployed in a borehole of a well. Pressure pulse cycles produced by a series of distinct high and low flow rates by the tool control system are provided to create pulses to be detected downhole by pressure transducers. A measurement sequence for caliper and resistivity images is triggered by the tool control system. The measurement sequence is terminated by the tool control system to conserve energy.

Further, the operations include performing, using a core-scale model and the upscaled second results, a simulation of fluid flow across the subterranean formation.
