Abstract: A washing machine and a control method thereof including supplying wash water into a space defined between an outer tub and an inner tub without wetting the laundry placed in the inner tub, operating the circulation pump to supply water from the outer tub to the inner tub, measuring a current value supplied to a circulation pump, stopping the operation of the circulation pump based on the measured current value, and calculating the amount of wash water supplied by the circulation pump based on the number of rotations of the circulation pump integrated until that time.

Abstract: A method for detecting an unbalance error of a machine-learning-based washing machine and the washing machine are provided. The method identifies whether laundry is within an inner drum of the washing machine using a laundry movement identifying model provided in an AI device of a server or the washing machine, measures an unbalance value on the basis of data of unbalance when the laundry is not moving, and then detects an unbalance error. The unbalance error can be more precisely detected without using additional components. The AI device for detecting the unbalance error of the present disclosure can be associated with drones (unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)), robots, augmented reality (AR) devices, virtual reality (VR) devices, devices related to 5G service, and the like.

Abstract: A washing machine and a method for controlling a washing machine are provided. The method may include sensing an amount of laundry in an inner tub, configuring an operation setting based on the amount of the laundry sensed, supplying water into the inner tub and obtaining a preliminary water supply time taken for a water level within an outer tub to reach a predetermined preliminary water supply level, spraying the water from the outer tub into the inner tub through a circulation nozzle by driving a pump and obtaining a change of water level within the outer tub as the water is sprayed through the circulation nozzle, adjusting the operation setting based on the preliminary water supply time obtained and the change of water level obtained, and performing a washing operation based on the adjusted operation setting.

Abstract: A method for controlling a rinsing cycle of a washing machine is provided. The method may include a primary rinsing by supplying water into the inner tub until a water level in the outer tub becomes a preset circulating water level, wherein some of the water is supplied through a drawer in the washing machine that holds fabric softener, and a remaining amount of water is supplied by spraying the water supplied from the external water source through the direct water nozzle via a direct water supply hose, a secondary rinsing by spraying water into the inner tub through the circulating nozzle, and a third rinsing by spraying the water into the inner tub through the direct water nozzle while draining the outer tub.
