An image-receiving sheet for use with an electrophotographic method, including a transparent support and an overcoat layer formed thereon is disclosed, in which the overcoat layer (i) includes a thermoplastic resin which has a fluidification initiation temperature lower than that of a toner for image formation to be employed or that of a resin for use in said toner, and (ii) is white and opaque from being in a porous state. Furthermore, an electrophotographic method using the above image-receiving sheet is also disclosed.

A developing replenisher material or a replenisher liquid developer to be supplied to a developer tank of an electrostatic copying machine comprises 1000 parts by weight of a carrier liquid composed mainly of aliphatic hydrocarbon and 200 or 1200 parts by weight of toner particles composed mainly of a binder resin and a pigment. The toner concentration of the replenisher liquid developer is high enough to prevent an overflow from the developer tank, allow many copies to be produced by the copying machine, and prevent a solvent shock. The toner particles, when added to the carrier liquid, can immediately and well be dispersed in the carrier liquid.

An electrophotographic recording apparatus having a photoconductive element, means for providing an electrostatic latent image on the photoconductive element which corresponds to image light, a developing device for developing the latent image to produce a visible image, means for transferring the visible image onto a paper, and means for cleaning the surface of the photoconductive element after the transfer of the visible image. Developers of different colors are selectively supplied to the single developing device to selectively record images in different colors. When a predetermined period of time has expired with no recording action taken after the completion of color recording, a developer collection system is communicated to a cleaning liquid vessel. This shortens the period of time necessary for the next change of recording color and recording operation while allowing a minimum of damage to result from a trouble in the developer collection system.

A developing device for developing an electrostatic latent image formed on an imaging surface includes a developing electrode disposed opposite to the imaging surface and a control circuit for controlling the potential of the developing electrode. In one form, when the control circuit causes the developing electrode to be electrically floating, the upper limit of the voltage excursion is set at different levels as desired. In another form, the control circuit includes a sensor for sensing the potential of the imaging surface thereby allowing to carry out so-called fixed bias or auto-bias developing modes. In a further form, the mode of developing operation is automatically set depending upon the position of a pressure plate which is to be placed on an original for keeping the original in position during copying process.
