摘要: A developing device for developing an electrostatic latent image formed on an imaging surface includes a developing electrode disposed opposite to the imaging surface and a control circuit for controlling the potential of the developing electrode. In one form, when the control circuit causes the developing electrode to be electrically floating, the upper limit of the voltage excursion is set at different levels as desired. In another form, the control circuit includes a sensor for sensing the potential of the imaging surface thereby allowing to carry out so-called fixed bias or auto-bias developing modes. In a further form, the mode of developing operation is automatically set depending upon the position of a pressure plate which is to be placed on an original for keeping the original in position during copying process.

摘要: First and second sensors (37), (39) are provided in a developing tank (36) containing a liquid developer consisting of a liquid carrier or dispersant and toner particles dispersed in the carrier. The first sensor (37) measures the electrical resistivity of the developer whereas the second sensor (39) measures the optical transmissibility thereof. Additional toner is supplied into the developer to maintain the transmissivity at a value which is a predetermined function of the resistivity. The transmissibility value is reduced as the resistivity increases, thereby maintaining the copy image density constant. The first sensor (37) includes two electrodes immersed in the developer and an A.C. or D.C. voltage is applied thereacross. The current flow through the electrodes (37) and thereby the developer is measured to determine the resistivity of the developer. Where the applied voltage is D.C., an arrangement is provided to mechanically scrape accumulated developer off the electrodes (37) at intermittent intervals.

摘要: A wet-type image forming apparatus produces a high-quality toner image by condensing a toner image on a photosensitive drum and adhering the toner image onto the photosensitive drum without contacting a liquid carrier applied on the photosensitive drum. The photosensitive drum carries a latent image formed thereon. The toner image is formed by developing the latent image by using a developing liquid including the liquid carrier and toner dispersed in the liquid carrier. An excessive amount of liquid carrier on the photosensitive drum is removed after the toner image is formed. An electric field is formed which causes a current to flow between an electrically conductive member and the photosensitive drum. An air gap is formed between the liquid carrier on the photosensitive drum and the electrically conductive member so that the current flows through the gap, the liquid carrier and the toner image. The toner image on the photosensitive drum is transferred to a transfer material after the toner image passes an area in which the electric field is generated.

摘要: A method of detecting the toner concentration of a two-component developer comprising a mixture of carrier particles and toner particles for use in an electrostatic copying apparatus or the like wherein a relationship between flow rate and the toner concentration of a two-component developer which passes through a container is obtained in advance, then the flow rate of the two-component developer whose toner concentration is unknown is measured by use of the container and developer flow rate detecting member. Thus, the toner concentration of the developer is determined from the measured flow rate and the relationship between the flow rate and the toner concentration which has been obtained in advance.

摘要: A method of and apparatus for developing a latent electrostatic image in which a one-component type developer is deposited on the surface of a developer applicator having a conductive and elastic endless surface and the developer applicator is brought into pressure contact with a latent electrostatic image bearing member having a latent electrostatic image thereon. The peripheral speed of the developer applicator is slightly greater than that of the latent electrostatic image bearing member. In the case where the developer on the surface of the developer applicator is charged by charge injection from a blade electrode which is in contact with the developer, the present development apparatus is provided with a means for insulating the opposite top end portions of the blade electrode from the surface of said developer applicator.

摘要: Deterioration of a dry developing substance causes toner particles to be so strongly adhered to carrier particles that they cannot be readily separated therefrom. The present apparatus comprises means for applying a predetermined electrostatic or air suction force to the developer to readily remove toner therefrom except for spent toner particles strongly adhered to the carrier particles. The toner density, or the ratio of toner to carrier particles, is then measured electromagnetically or optically and compared to a reference value. The developer deterioration determines what proportion of toner will be removed from the developer by said force and thereby the subsequently sensed toner density. The higher the sensed toner density, the greater the degree of deterioration.

摘要: A photoconductive member is charged and radiated with a light image to produce an electrostatic image. Sensing electrodes automatically sense the remaining potential in a portion of the electrostatic image corresponding to a background area of the original document scanned to produce the light image. In one embodiment the area is a white reference document disposed adjacent to the original document. In another embodiment a reference document is not provided and a plurality of portions of the electrostatic image are sensed. The lowest value of the sensed potential is utilized. Computing means compute and apply the biasing voltage to the developing electrode as a predetermined function of the sensed potential.

摘要: A reverse development is performed with application of development bias voltage to a development sleeve at the time of development, and the polarity of the bias voltage is reversed or the bias voltage is reduced to zero at the time of non-development. Furthermore, positive images and negative images can be selectively formed by changing the voltage to be applied to a charge injection electrode, without changing the bias voltage to be applied to the development sleeve.

摘要: In successively copying a plurality of continuous pages of a book original by means of a copying apparatus adapted to print images of the pages on opposite surfaces of each copy sheet, a printing operation is controlled in such a manner that a series of processes including, illumination of the pages, charging and exposing of a photosensitive drum, developing, fixing and transfer printing of visible images, and ejection of printed copy sheets is automatically performed, if the book original is opened at desired pages and placed on an original placing glass plate of the copying apparatus in a normal condition in which the top of the book original is remote from the operator. With the operator merely turning the pages, the control method enables the production of a bundle or bundles of duplicate copies of the pages of the same order and arrangement as the book original, regardless of whether the book original is bound on the left side or on the right side and whether the first and last pages to be copied have even numbers or odd numbers. In copying the adjacent two pages, two pages can be copied in separate copying processes or in a single continuous copying process for the two pages.
