The present invention provides a capacitively coupled stripline to microstrip transition which comprises a stripline, a microstrip, an upper conductive ground plane, a lower conductive ground plane, an insulating layer and an insulating fixing component. The stripline is positioned between the upper conductive ground plane and the lower conductive ground plane, and has a stripline overlap section. The microstrip is mounted on the upper conductive ground plane, and has a microstrip overlap section which penetrates the upper conductive ground plane. Wherein the microstrip overlap section, the insulating layer and the stripline overlap section are attached uniformly and tightly in sequence and fixed together by the insulating fixing component. The present invention further provides an antenna comprising this transition.

An antenna comprising a plurality of sub-arrays and methods and structure for restoring performance after a transceiver failure is provided. Each sub-array may include a power divider/combiner network, a first radiating element coupled to a first port of the power divider/combiner network, a second radiating element coupled to a second port of the power divider/combiner network, and a transceiver coupled to a third port of the power divider/combiner network. An adjustable power supply may be coupled to each transceiver, the adjustable power supply having current monitors to detect at least one failure state of a transceiver, and a power compensation mode to increase absolute power to a transceiver in a non-failed state. The adjustable power supply provides a first voltage in normal operation and a second voltage, where the second voltage is higher than the first voltage in power compensation mode.

A base station signal is applied to antenna elements. One signal from a first element is electrically modified and evaluated in conjunction with a second, unmodified signal from a second element. The modified signal is further modified and again evaluated with the unmodified signal. The results of the two evaluations are compared to determine a relative phase and/or amplitude at the respective elements.
