摘要： A light source comprises a lamp such as an ultra-high pressure mercury lamp or a metal halide lamp and its irradiated light is emitted after being parallelized by a parabolic reflector. The parabolic reflector is made by pressing metal such as stainless and its light exit side aperture is covered with a transparent plate made of glass, etc. The transparent plate prevents fragments of glass of the lamp and the like from scattering when the lamp bursts. The parabolic reflector does not have an aperture (cut-out) for ventilation, but heat radiation fins are formed on the outer surface of it.

摘要： An object of the present invention is to provide a method for managing a light exposure mask wherein: a mask inspection or a wafer inspection, in order to manage a contamination of a light exposure mask by a growing foreign matter, is not necessary; the method has general versatility regardless to the history of the mask; the method dose not increase time and cost for mask manufacturing and inspection; and the method is operated so that the mask can always be used in a clean state. Another object of the present invention is to provide a light exposure mask wherein a contamination by a growing foreign matter dose not occur. A method for managing a light exposure mask is characterized in that: calculating a sulfate ion adsorption amount on a surface of the light exposure mask, of after a elapse of a predetermined time, from a sulfate ion concentration actually measured in an environment of using the light exposure mask, a maximum amount of sulfate ions adsorbed on the surface of the light exposure mask, and a threshold value of an amount of sulfate ions present on the surface of the light exposure mask of which the foreign matter occurs on the surface of the light exposure mask; setting an usable period of the light exposure mask, which the foreign matter dose not occur; and using the light exposure mask while rewashing the light exposure mask before the usable period expires.

摘要： Provided are a projector capable of correcting a polarization state properly and improving image quality, a retardation plate being used in a projector or the like and being capable of correcting a polarization state properly, and a method of placing a retardation plate. A quarter-wave plate (22) is placed between a reflective spatial light modulator (21) and a PBS (20). The quarter-wave plate (22) includes a combination of a first retardation plate (41) and a second retardation plate (42) each producing a different phase difference. The phase differences produced by two retardation plates (41), (42) are set to be suitable amounts of phase difference according to a position state, so in spite of the fact that the quarter-wave plate (22) including the combination of two retardation plates, the quarter-wave plate (22) can correct the polarization state properly with performance equal to or higher than that in the case where the quarter-wave plate includes a single plate.
